The five biggest conspiracies of the past 100 years:
5. Charles Lindbergh orchestrated the kidnapping and murder of his son.
4. FDR allowed Pearl Harbor to happen so the U.S.could enter World War II.
3. JFK was assassinated in a government coup orchestrated by the CIA.
2. 9/11 was an inside job pulled off by the government and blamed on 19 dark guys from the Middle East.
1. Husets track conditions on Saturday night were dictated by David Gravel starting on the pole.

Both higher purse races won from front. Rubber was a factor. Sunshine gave a good effort. Skagitt format insures passing with invert but track too slick to make speed required to pass several cars. Both fun to watch wanted Sunshine to get extra $100k. The Focus midgets are similar to Knoxvilles Pro Sprints everyone takes a break. They do have starters!

Rework always makes the track 1 lined for at least 10 to 15 laps on every track. Essentially the beginning of the race is a waste since nobody can pass.

Husets hasn't figured out the track prep yet. Theoretically you'd have a 50 lap race on Saturday if you're going to do a ton of track prep before because the first 10-15 laps are one lane after a lot of work. But then the track seems to rubber up around lap 35 so you're left with 20-25 good laps regardless. I know they put a lot of new dirt on there and are trying things but it hasn't fully worked yet.

Unsolicited track-prep advice from a guy who has never prepped a dirt track- My only angle is that I've been going to the races at Husets since 1984.
When the track starts muddy, by the end of the heat races the cars have thrown a lot of mud up on the cusion. At that point, you have a really narrow, fast track that's going to take rubber. If you ran the features on that track, they'd probably be follow the leader around the bottom. Racers that tried to run against the curb eventually would either lose some spots or get to say hello to Mr. Wall in turns one or three.
The common fix is to rework the track. They used to just start at the top and grade all the built-up mud down to the bottom. More recenly they've used equipment to rough up the top of the race track surface from top to bottom. This makes most of the racing surface look like a plowed field. At that point, they throw 20-24 cars out on an unkown surface and drop the green. That tends to lead to a bunch of uneventful laps punctuated by some nasty crashes. After about 10 laps, the track is run in and is then ready to race on. At a weekly show it's the late model street stock cars that get out there first and tear up a lot of equpment racing in a plowed field.
I say there's a better way: Rent some more quipment for big races and get the track converted to a plowed field twice as fast. Then, pay the late model street stock guys get out there and run about 20 laps until the track is run in. While they are doing that, have some close-out specials on all the leftover hotdogs and popcorn. Once the track looks good, pull in the stock cars and go racing! I think a fair price to pay the stock car guys would be something like some free WoO tickets, some fuel money and a certificate for a T-shirt at any of the merch, trailers.
I think doing this would make better races, cut down on bad crashes, sell more hotdgs. support the racers' mech. sales, and probably get the show finished sooner. Also, the stock cars will throw the loose mud up to the wall. The sprinters tend to launch it into the atmosphere- and eventually into the fans' faces. Reworking the track at Husets in the past has had a 50/50 chance of making for fantastic feature. They need to work on raising those percentages.

thanks for understanding, no one is at fault but me leaving my computer logged in. Its been explained why and how track surfaces work to them.
Thank you

I had read the original post. To be fair, it made chuckle and roll my eyes. By the time I got around to replying, the original post was gone. Looking back at the the thread, I can tell that you're the one who must have removed the original-good on you. Single file had a good, playful response, but he left out the part about Lady Dianna's crash being caused by a poorly execute slide job.
I think it's fair game to talk about track prep from a fan's point of view. Name calling and negetive remarks just for attention aren't productive, but a good discussion is always enjoyable.

Track prep has a lot of factors. Humidity wind temp and type of cars and time factor. Due to number and large purse sprint cars are what fans payed to see. Hussets is most exciting to watch when cushion is right near the wall but there is a slower shorter bottom that with right set up and driver is an alternative. Concessions stands do best during intermissions. David starting on pole He earned under this format made him a favorite. No points just $300k purse was incentive enough. I wanted a non outlaw to take the cash.Sunshine came close but Marks Rico and Aaron chose the Skagitt race which Sweet won from pole on a track that got slick. Track promotion will always be a job that requires a tough skin! I have helped with track prep many years ago and harder job than racing and usually not many thank yous!

Just a fan that has been attending races for 50+ years. Love the 410's, Big Blocks, and Late Models. Have been getting into the Pro Stocks which have been VERY competitive at my home track. No experience at track prep and sure do not want to gain any experience....a very thankless job and one that needs to constantly deal with a different set of variables....sun, rain, usage, to name a few!!
Watched all 4 A main features at Huset's via dirtvision and enjoyed all of them. Did not see much of the heat races or preliminary features due to work. Some A Mains better than others, but love the fact I can watch them in the comfort of my home. 3 different winners in 4 nights with a very talented field and some GREAT ACTION!!! Kudos to Huset's and Todd for putting on an amazing 4 days.....even with just seeing the A Mains!! Difficult to bitch about anything!! I'm just enjoying!! Thanks to all involved!!

I did remove my original, thenI came back and I saw that I left the other guy hanging with his post. I didn't want people to acttack him, for a thread started under my name.
This isn't the same Jackhole from 20 years ago. Slightly but not much mature

The five biggest conspiracies of the past 100 years:

4. FDR allowed Pearl Harbor to happen so the U.S.could enter World War II.
3. JFK was assassinated in a government coup orchestrated by the CIA.

The Boone has the fastest and best track prep usually 20 minutes. Multiple vehicles working in unison, IMCA Nationals has over 1000 entries and did pay $10k . That race makes more revenue than anyother dirt track . Only NASCAR and Indy cars do better. Chilli Bowl same deal you make money thru back gate.

A short few years ago I was told by a retired Knoxville racer one night that back when they wanted to start the Sprint Car Nationals (The Knoxville Nationals), Boone Speedway was their first choice to hold the event but Boone passed on the deal... Don't know if there was any truth to it.

One of the best WOO races I ever saw was ai Boone Speedway and Sammy was winner. The have tried IMCA sprints but I was told by the promoter who at that time said they just werent set up for cars without starters . If there are 120 cars at Knoxville Nationals and over 1000 At IMCA Nationals the pit pass money difference would be substancial.

There might be some version of the past that has some connectivity, but I can tell you that the Knoxville Nationals were rolling along for 6 or so years (since 1961) before Boone Speedway opened (in 1967).
Lots of fun Boone and Knoxville stories...and then there are some not fun stories from each. All part of what makes racing, racing.
