Since this topic was just brought up after the Marcri incident, if you haven't listened to the latest Chaz/Cody "chat" do yourself a favor and pull it up.  Whether you are, or aren't a fan of one or both of them, some interesting comments on safety from Cody.

I'm not a Chas fan but it is an excellent watch.  Cody  taking the bent up Chomp car to the bullrings this week, priceless.

Schuart having the small man syndrome after putting his right front into Gravel's left rear and then acting like a tough guy.  Maybe he shouldn't qualify 35th out of 36, needs to quit being a whiner...... All the years he has driving and he is just one of the cars there.

Couldn't pay me to listen to those two.

I met Chaz once at an event. He was very mellow and interesting to talk to. That makes me think his Internet personality is just his shtick. It reminds me of watching Hee-Haw with my parents. I'd never be able to sit through more than about 10 minutes of that, so I just skipped to the part about safety.

Cody's take on Macri's back injury is that the cars are now being built too rigid in the seat area (?) so that in a crash, the only thing that has any give is the driver's body. His example is that Jac Haudenschild would crash a lot, but he had a more flexible seat so he didn't get hurt (?) I don't know if I can agree with that train or thought.

Cody didn't offer any suggestions for improving driver safety so I'll offer one. If you made driver's custom built seat 2" bigger all around and added in 2" of dense foam- like a gym wrestling mat- would the driver be less apt to get banged up in a crash?

Cody is one of the best crew cheifs and has respect. It doesnt bother me but He has a  potty mouth that sets a bad example to our sport.

I laugh my ass off listening to him.  The entertainment value is fantastic.  Tod Quiring must not be too worried about it because I know I would never be able to keep him employed speaking like that to the media.  I would demand a higher level of professionalism.  I'm glad Tod allows it though, because it gives me some good laughs!

I think he was kind of eluding to some of the same things as you.  I didn't hear him mention the 2" of foam, but he said they are too strapped in so nothing can give but their bodies.  Like I said, interesting listen.  I don't know if he's right or wrong, but intersting take none the less.

He didn't say anything about 2" foam. That was my thought. I just offered a thought about how to compensate for his assertion that drivers are strapped in too tight and nothing gives but the driver's body in a crash.
