Sometimes I wonder where the money comes from for some of these big fancy sprint car outfits. I skim through my brain but it's like someone misappropriates my thoughts.

It blows my mind how much money it must cost to keep a team on the road these days.  Not only engines and cars and parts, but the support stuff.   Motel rooms, salaries, diesel.  Those rigs are $$$ although I guess there's less maintenance on a semi tractor that can do millions of miles.  I'm old enough to remember Karl Kinser's open trailer and Chevy pickup (that he eventually converted to diesel)  I bet some pit mules today approach the cost of his  truck and trailer.

There may be a few rogue car owners in sprint car racing but overall the sport is squeaky clean compared to IMSA/Sports car racing in years past.  The Whittington Brothers, John Paul, Randy Lanier....holy shit.

There's been a few in dirt racing Danny Peace and Kenny Weld come to mind. The Batmobile modified Kenny brought to Syracuse was rumored to be financedby drug money considering both the builder Weld and driver Gary Balough both went to prison for drug distribution.

Not surprising, probably on the advice from his attorney. Kinda a sad story, as most know, racing is a serious addiction. It will be intersting to see how this plays out for him and his future.
