I'm pondering me getting my old, lazy ass off of the couch this summer and taking a trip to catch High Limit in Cali.  I've been to Chico, years ago.  So I'm thinking about the Santa Maria, Tulare, Placerwille swing.  I've seen Tulare and Placerville on DV/Flo and they look pretty racy.  What about Santa Maria?  Any insider tips for the 3 tracks, where to sit etc?

Been a few years since I was at Santa Maria. Enjoyable place to watch a race but the track tends to be one-lane, especially for the winged cars. Tulare in August ain't exactly paradise. Usually good racing at the Thunderbowl, though. Placerville is tiny, but High Limit has put on great shows there the last two years. Both Tulare and Placerville can get very dusty, so I try to sit up fairly high. The turn 4 pit grandstand at Placerville offers quite a perspective.

Rumor is that the August 23 TBD date on the High Limit schedule could be Calistoga. I've got my fingers crossed.

With the most bang for  your buck Tulare/Chico are the best there are with no shortage of action.  Tulare never ceases to entertain with the turn one (ditch, divot) never fails to keep it interesting. Chico is 62 plus years of racing...

Being a turn four junkie both tracks sitting up high the action never cease to amaze me...

Ascot was the greatest of all time..

West Capital wasn't half bad either..

Life is good...

Those are three good tracks. I know you didn't ask, but another cool thing to see since you're into racing is the automobile and military aircraft museum just north of Santa Maria in Paso Robles, California. It's called the Woodland auto display. Here's a link: https://www.woodlandautodisplay.com/  It's well worth your time! Lots of very cool cars.

We've raced at all three for several decades and you can't go wrong with any of them.  Placerville is really an elbows up place and a terrifically loyal crowd, many of whom have occupied the same sets for 40 or more years. As Igo-Ono mentiond turn 4 pit grandstands is probably the best spot in the country to watch from.  Tulare is simply an awesome place, with the very challenging turn one a good spot to keep an eye on.If you'r a true Texan the August heat probably won't bother you much.  We're seldom in the stands but I like about half way up midway on the front straight..  Santa Maria went through a few tough years but is back with a new promoter a year or so back and he busts his azz to keep improving the place. It's long been probably in my top 3 or so tracks in the country.  Right on the beautiful Central Coast, usually great racing in all classes, great Santa Maria bbq and not a bad seat in the pace.  Our Pro Stock touring series has a show there again in April and it's one we always look forward to..  Come on out.  You'll have a good time.
