Gio Scelzi has a new team, a new-ish sponsor and a new crew chief(?). The team is going racing with High Limit, and bought the Meyers team H-L franchise. Will he be able to move the needle and elevate himself from his past performance with WoO and H-L? He appears to have talent. He's finished in the top 10 in WoO championships, and wins about 1 WoO every year. Is this the beginning of something big?

Does anybody have a good grasp of the franchise and how the numbers work? The craziest thing I saw was on DIRTRACKR, that said the team paid $400,000 plus for the franchise in order to have the potential to receive up to $240,000 in payout money in 2025. This was portrayed as a way for the team to have predictable finances in 2026. Huh?

Justin said that the Spire team would get $240,000 in 2026 from HL and surmised that they would get the same amount in 2027.           That team could try to earn a new franchise (no guarantee and much risk ) or buy one and get most of their money back in 2 years.

As far as moving the needle...   That is a good question.      Gio was always hot or cold in that Aspen Aire 18 car.    Maybe he will no longer be cold in this Chili's 77 car.      I can't wait to find out.

Great questions.  Was the 18 car carrying him to a win or 2 here or there?  Or was the 18 car holding him back?  I guess we have a way to gauge it in 2026 and 2027.  Sheldon racked up 32 wins over the past 5 years.  Whether anyone thinks Sheldon is over rated or not, that's a pretty stout win total at 6.4 wins per year.  If Sheldon falls flat on his face, it's safe to say the ride isn't up to par.

As far as the $400,000 franchise goes, it's kind of like gambling on a pension from a private company.  It's probably a great idea, so long as the company that pays you still exists when you're expecting your payout.
