To put it in perspective the NFL league minimum for undrafted free agents is $840,000 this year. We're still a niche sport but $750k isn't anything to sneeze at.

I dont care how much he won. All i care about is that he doesnt take any steps backwards next year, improves thier half mile program a little bit, continues to improve consistancy, and wins the championship next year.

Buddy had a great year and there is probably more to come. He should thank the guys back in the 80s who put power steering in the cars. Without that, half these guys would fall out of the seat before the feature was over. I'm sure that's not popular, but it's the truth.

I didn't realize how much of a wuss power steering made me until I recently test drove a 1962 Ford Falcon Ranchero. Just what I was looking for, rare V-8/ 4 speed combo, but no power steering. I could barely steer the thing!
I drove my 2 Ford Econolines a least 600,000 miles, no power steering either, never bothered me. I realized after Falcon test drive that I hadn't driven a car without PS since 1994! Time flies, we all get old, & our bodies deteriorate
It must have been TOUGH racing a sprint car back in the day!

Learn how to drive in my dad's 1967 F100 3/4 Ton Ford with no power steering and bias-ply tires. That thing was a beast.

Im doubling down that your a woman? Because you completely missed the point. You took out of context the comment of " i dont care how much he won". ( Like my ex girlfriends and wife - females- often do).

My power steering line exploded at an asphalt race with the USCS during the heat race. I was racing for points so we capped it off for the feature and I did the best I could. Two laps down at the end. Dad had to take my seat belts off, and he had to drive home cause my hands hurt so bad. It was my best season ever and that was my proudest moment of the season. I literally almost passed out just trying to keep it straight for the 4-abreast.

The old timers must have had meat hooks for hands and forearms. I realize Steve did, as wrestlers often do, but Sammy has such a slight frame. Were his cars any different? Or did he have power steering for a good portion of his career?

One thing is that something without power steering is not as hard as one with power steering that is not working. Also the faster you are going and the lighter the vehichle the easier mechanical steering is.

It's also true that Babe Ruth likely wouldn't average .200 against guys like Roger Clemens and Randy Johnson, Jack Lambert would not have even made an NFL team due to his size and speed, Wilt Chamberlain would have had his butt kicked by guys like Shaq and Rodman, and Jesse Owens wouldn't even be invited to run in the Olympics because he'd be way too slow.
Times change. Thank God for that, or we'd be missing a very large pool of talented race car drivers if it were all about who could muscle a car from the 70's in 2025. Seems silly to dwell on the past and not move forward.

Thats what I went by for years
I didn't want PS cause it practically locked up if your engine stalled
Somehow I became a wimp by driving with PS for the last 31 years
Oh well

Wilt would DESTROY Shaq!!!!
He'd foul him out.... Wilt NEVER fouled out once, HS, college, or Pro
Shaq got away with murder on offensive fouls his whole career.... wouldn't help vs. Wilt cause Wilt was stronger
I like to think the Babe would still be a star too (but I never saw him, so no guarantee)

Power steering was coming into play in sprint cars when Sammy started and I think his cars had it. But his first ride was at 15 years old in a modified with a spring front end and no ps. He won a ton of races in it. I've read where he talked about running 3 classes in one night and how tiring it was.

I was snooping around the sprint car ratings website. Steve Kinser raced 3200 times, 800 wins and won 2.2 million dollars. Times change.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!
