The game is changing, midget style driving in sprint cars is being rewarded. The Donny Schatz stick in the low/middle grooves has been replaced by driving on the ragged edge.
Improvements in quality of parts have allowed this I think. Less part failures and breaks allow a bang the boards style that would have been punished by part failures leading to crashes in the past.

Seems to me there have been a lot of part failures this year. I've seen several hard right turns into walls that seem more common lately. Parts could be better but I wonder if a young driver experiences a hard crash will they back off a bit afterward. I was young once. I thought I was invincible. I was wrong.
