The last two years, he ran the full USAC National Midget schedule as a Toyota Developmental driver with Keith Kunz. Obviously, there is a lot more money in winged 410 racing than USAC Midgets. Is Timms no longer a Toyota Developmental driver? Were the bigger purses the reason behind him running Knoxville weekly this year and getting out of USAC Midgets?  Guys do not leave Keith Kunz rides too often for something else on dirt.

Aren't most Keith Kunz rides rented?

From what I have read about Kunz in the past, he usually has a couple of paid drivers and the rest are rentals. But Timms was a Toyota Developmental Driver. I would think Toyota was funding his ride? No? That is why I wondered if he is no longer a TRD and why he ran Knoxville in a winged 410 this year.

Gotcha.  I didn't know either which is why I asked.   Thanks

And all the hoseheaders forgot that Doug Wolfgang, another "local", won it about 50 years ago while running weekly points. I think Sioux Falls is as closer to Knoxville that OKC. I think Ryan may actually reside in Pella during the season?

The only reason to race midgets or be a Toyota development driver is to get to NASCAR or NASCAR adjacent. Otherwise you can't make any money. Timms family has money but I don't think they have "I can buy a nascar ride" money.

Having said that, I wouldn't be surprised now if Timms gets some attention based on the ridiculous performance on Saturday.

I can assure you that I am not a Gravel fan but I would guess if Gravel doesn't get punted on his qualifying night he would have won Sat. But he did and Timms did what he had to do to win it. They just put that he won in the record book they don't put any what ifs in the book.

At one point in the first segment timms was about to lap gravel. By the end of the first segment gravel had pulled back away by atleast a straight away. I would like to see a lap time rundown for the whole race on timms and gravel.

Sure, Doug Wolfgang was the last local way back in 1977 to win the Knoxville Nationals.

But remember the World of Outlaws did not begin until 1978.  And also, back in '77 - Doug was kind of an outlaws sprint car racer, competing around the country racing big dollar events from the west coast to the east coast.
