after what happened at yesterday's Busch race (or whatever it's called these days) I fear one of these days a driver is gonna tumble off the top wing while celebrating victory and end up badly injured, that guy yesterday broke his collar bone, at least most sprint car victory lanes are dirt, so the impact from falling wouldn't be as severe, besides the injury, that guys fall yesterday was horribly embarrassing.

Thank you for bringing up a topic that has bothered me for a LONG LONG time and it finally happened. Any time a NASCAR driver or dirt late model driver stands on their roof, I cringe. Every time a wingless guy stands on his cage, I cringe. But, every time a winged driver gets on top I cringe even more. And for GOD'S sake, keep your damn children on the ground because you know it's going to happen, one driver in particular is worse than them all, and I really like him (57) for those that don't know.
Standing on the fuel tank should be far enough. The WoO and HLR should step in and make all wing dances stop. All tracks in PA must get together, like now, and stop the wing dances.

I agree with you, but see it a little differently. Let them celebrate. Honestly, it seems like the reason they do it all the time now is because it was expected of the winner at any WoO race. It's like they're contractually required to do it so that Johnny can say "there he goes up-top to celebrate"! Watch some of those guys and how their body language looks like they're worried about losing their step and falling on their head. But, if they want to, let them.

Do you know what "personal expression" means? Literally everyone does this when they win. I wouldn't call that "personal expression". Personally I think the wing dances are dumb, because they've been overdone. But if a guy wins a sprint car race I don't think anyone should tell him how to celebrate.

I would 100% oppose telling any 18+ year old they couldn't climb up on their own racecar. They are old enough to understand the risks and be responsible for their own actions. At some point we gotta let adults start taking responsibility for their own actions again rather than trying to regulate everything. Also, they just ripped 16 second laps around a 1/2 mile on mud next to 23 other cars, and we're worried about the dangers of falling off the roof? I get it, what happened was bad yesterday, but let's not pretend this is some sort of actual issue all of the sudden. Very isolated.

Valid points by everyone, and yes, it is a driver/parent's decision to take young children up with them, but c'mon, that's just plain dangerous. And I do agree with the one messsge about I think some do it because others do it.
Lance Dewease doesn't And I noticed the new thing this year has been tossing the checkered flags. That I get a kick out of.

Until the checkered flag hits some kid in the eye, and then that will need to be regulated too.

Do we really want to get to the point of a sanctioning body regulating how celebrations are done? Think about what this leads to.
BIG NO.

I would say no. With that said I would think tracks and car owners would tell drivers to tone it down a little. In todays world it is only a matter of time until a law suit happens. You can have a lot fun with your feet on the ground.
