I'm going to Osky for the first time this year, do the grandstand general admission seats ever sell out? Just curious if I need to buy tickets in advance?
Thanks,
Kerry

You can buy day of. If you can, I'd get there earlier to get a decent seat. When i went, id usually go around lunch time day of, buy tickets, get lunch and then watch the cars roll in the pits. I always got very good aisle seats.
Lately ive been sitting in the general admission seats closer to turn 4 as the main grandstand is super tight. You have more room to stretch out a bit in the ga section.

You can buy in advance, but IMO it's only worth doing if you want the top few (6? maybe) rows, which are the reserved seats. Everthing else is general admission.
Like DSC said, the open grandstands closer to turn four has more room. The closed / main grandstands, is what you'll walk up to after passing the concessions, is tight so you'll likely be straddling someone's back. The only problem with sitting on the isle is you'll likely have to rotate more to let people out.
I also usually buy my tickets this week, just to avoid the line Monday afternoon. I call and order my tickets and pick them up in the afternoon.

If your 100% going and picky on seating buy early. If not day of is fine. Early in the day far better. Used to sell out maybe 20 years ago. I doubt they do this year. If they do I'd still recommend the pits and bringing a chair for turn 3-4. I'm guessing I'll be down in turn four like normal. Not much for partying just something different and have always grilled out with some guys I know who usually don't go to sprint races. Good way to get them to the track.

Did the pits for a lot of years. Great for socializing and other activities, Not so great for seeing the races though. One year we were able to stand on a Flatbed wrecker and could see somewhat better.

In 13 or 14 I did scaffolding sections on jacks with planks exactly to the specified 10' height and the year following it they said no more scaffolding. I could see great that year so sorry to everyone else that I ruined it for I guess. I did it in turn three which was my mistake as I think it hurt the view from the stands having a wall of ppl on scafolding. If I was in turn four back then it would have been fine. Now I have a stand that goes in the bed of a truck that works pretty good. I can see most all the track. 20-25 years ago we had a scissor truck for roofing house that would would use for a few years in there which was awesome. They would come measure the height, you would drop it to the 10' mark and as soon as they left it went back to 12-13' up. We are always causing trouble haha. (not really we try to comply)

I mostly went to pits years back. They had a huge dirt pile at the west end of pits. Alot of us would go stand on it and you could see decent. Still couldn't see the front stretch but it was better than sardines in the stands.

Day of is fine, its just ok. I mean at least there's a race on Monday night but if it wasn't that week nobody would ever go.
