The Concrete Kid is on a roll. He always had the talent and was a gasser. His biggest issue was his confidence. He would get down on himself and sometimes his own team when things went wrong. It looks like he has matured quite a bit over the last few years. I hope he continues to ride the wave. He has certainly become a fan favorite, not only in Central Pa, but now around the country.

Someone on here a  while back asked who the best non full time traveler was and I don't think there's any doubt right now it's him.

Agree.  Macri and his team are the only team from PA that could bring their own equipment out on the road with either series, win multiple races, and compete in the points.  Not saying someone couldn't without a boost, but if anyone decided to hit the road tomorrow with what they have, he's the only one that would be a threat.

Macri is having a great year for sure. Glad to see the family team worked through their stuff and are focused and rolling really well on the road and at home. Good for the sport to have true outlaws out there poking the national tours teams and not just be top guys in WoO and hl and nascar winning everything.  Give em hell Macri and DD and Brown and the others.

Or is it the 'true outlaw' thing that works? Does the success fade when, instead of picking and choosing, you commit to the grind of competing in a series ?
Mark's team chose the grind and they were much better off doing what Macri's doing.

The mojo, the elusive and fleeting mojo........

Macri has showed He can run with HL or WOO and be competitive. A true  pick and chose with no subsities or quaranteed show up support to help with some of the expenses and after trying other options is vested in his own families team . I would put him in top 5 especially since WE have 2/3 drivers out after Eldora, Everyone loves an underdog and He will have great fan support at Knoxville.

The true outlaw thing works if you win. If you don't win and you lose out on a ton of benefits (point fund/tow money etc...) that keep mediocre teams in business, it's not so great.

Following a series raises your floor in terms of earnings, but can cap you because now you're going to tracks you're not good at and chasing setups rather than refining what works.

As has already been mentioned, the "true outlaw" thing only works if you have some pretty heavy funding, which is why he is the only driver/team that could do this.  Not many teams can go out on the road with no tow/show-up money, and no points money, and have a 2 or 3 week stretch of finishing 12th.  I think the true outlaw idea, as we remember it in the old days, is over when it comes to being a profitable operation.  Gotta have some big bucks behind you.  If you do, you can make it work.  If you don't, the only way you're going on the road is to hook up with one of the 2 tours.

That one he cherry picked a couple of weeks ago will pay for a couple of hotel rooms. They still may not make money for the season but that will cut the losses. You can't win those ones if you are not there.

Sure it will. And Brent Marks had a great season a few years back as well. But how does that True Outlaw thing work out if you don't win all of those races?  Simple:  it doesn't!   So, you either have huge finances backing you, or you get on a tour and reap some of their benefits.

You don't think every car out on tour has huge financial backing from sponsors, owners, benefactors?

And how's that working out for him this year? Does he even have a win yet? To be honest I was surprised he went  back out on the road this year with a newborn at home.

Working better than if he went out on the road as a true outlaw.  At least there's point money and support from the HL.

Definitely not every car. Balog would not have run the number of races he has run without a Platinum membership. And there are plenty of others.

So you think he's doing better financially at this point in the season than he was a few years ago when he was the leader in money earned? I'm not sure about that.

?? Hell no! I said he's doing better now than he would be if he was on a true outlaw schedule in 2025.  True outlaws don't pull in that type of money very often.

My apologies he has two wins this year. I agree it won't always work but it can work and Marcri is now so far proving that. Now that can change on a dime but we'll see how he does at the  Nationals.

From listening to the knia radio broadcast it sounded like Macri and Madsen did very similar things to bring out yellows. Macri went to the back and Madsen gets blended in twice on the last lap. Can anyone explain why?
