I'm curious why they would or even how they can allow provisionals in preliminary nights when qualifying is based on points. Seems like everyone should take a Provisional and add a few points to their chart for Sunday.

HL posted to X that the provisionals would receive points for the season standings, but not event points. But overall I agree. Why bother with season points for a special format event?

Maybe that was an enticement to get the H-L teams to make the west coast swing?

Show up points would have probably enticed enough. Lucky for Rico it wasn't just show up points. Not only did he win $156,000 he also moved from 2nd to first in points which would give him an extra $125,000 in point fund. May end up to be a quarter million dollar weekend for him.
