I think that is the lap that they did it last year. No could figure then or last night why they didn't do at half way. I guess it is their money and their rules. I do think there might have been a different leader at twenty laps but as long as everyone knew when it would be that's the breaks. Like Macri said when the red came out after he took the lead on the restart. They then went single file on the following restart but that is also a rule. Sometimes it pays off big to be lucky.

Gravel claimed the timing was fishy as well, he had gone from 8th to 5th the lap prior and they reverted back to previous lap and he restarted in 8th. Not to say anyone had much for Reutzel or Macri, but typical Highly Limited nonsense.

Tracks and series often use either elapsed non-red time or amount of laps since cars were fired off to determine fuel stops.
I like using the 35 minute rule, as that seemed to be the max the cars could go before running out of fuel. And you never want that to happen.
So if there is a red flag and even if there was just a small possibility of time being an issue we'd have a fuel stop - as drivers absolutely don't want to run out.
In the case of last night, I believe the fuel stop occurred around lap 15, which made perfect sense- and as it turns out the elapsed non-red time was 42 minutes by checkers. So I think it worked out well.

Even at Knoxville i think they should determine it will be between lap 22 and 28 or whatever numbers work. Then pick the number after the race starts on lap one. Then you should race to a checker at lap whatever and keep your positions. Racing to a yellow is ridiculous. You dont race to a yellow any other time of the race. If you race to a checker on lap 22 you keep the positions you gain on lap 22. At knoxville you only get 49 laps to try to pass because lap 26 restarts with lap 24 positions.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

That's the thing, they just keep doing things that make people as those questions. People can argue all day if there's any fire beyond the smoke but the smoke is quite obvious time and again. It's not things that people need to reach for either. They're glaringly obvious things that just keep happening with this series. From Kyle jumping out mid race to officiate to Brad's scale debacle, the fuel situation and subsequent handling of the 69K's situation, Rico's watch/heart monitor or whatever it was and now this. I overheard lots of people around me questioning what the deal was with the fuel stop. And these weren't loud mouth drunks, just people. Some of which were wearing Rico and Sweet shirts. Just seems like this kind of questionable stuff keeps happening over and over with this series. They have a nice line up of teams and seem to run a decent show the few times I've seen them but they gotta quiet some of the noise surrounding them or they're gonna have problems down the road. Again, is there actual nefarious shit going on? I don't know. Some say yes, some say no. But they sure as hell keep giving people a reason to talk.

The fuel stop was at the same time last year. You didn't hear drivers questioning it. I will have to watch a replay and see it showes the Gravel deal. I didn't notice anything at the time. I do know everyone wanted electronic scoring so those things don't happen, now guys question that. What some don't consider in those circumstances is the light comes on after every car has crossed the line so the lead cars sometimes run a whole extra lap.

Wasn't it always going to take place? 40 laps non-stop at Port with any amount of cautions is damn near impossible. When would you have liked them to stop it?

They can throw it whenever they want, they just happened to throw it right as a card carrying WoO guy passed 3 cars including the HL savior of sprint car racing right after the leaders hit the flagstand. Prob just a coincidance.

It was always going to be on lap fifteen. As good as he is his fans could accept that he was a non factor in this race. It happens to best of them. Macri accepted that the red came out just as he had taken the lead in a $100,000 to win race and said that's the way the cookie crumbles. See my previouse post about the caution not coming until the last car passed the line. and that would have when the leaders were getting there again.

Few things in racing are as amusing as seeing one of the fanboys get all salty and invent a conspiracy theory.
Macri lost out on a $100,000 and didn't cry that much about how it must be a conspiracy.

Why didn't Gravel just pass those 3 cars again, as soon as the green flag came back out?

That is right. I watched the replay. He passed them the first time as they slowing because they knew the caution was coming .
