I was listening to Nascar radio on sirius last night. 60% of the callers said they aren't really a Larson fan but they will be for Indy. Most guys said they wouldnt normally watch Indy but they will this weekend. Sure would be neat to know how many people will watch or at least have the tv on for Indy that normally wouldn't. Indy is getting a lot of viewers. One caller suggested Indy should have picked someone to drive in the 600 to bring some of their fans to Nascar. Kind of a one sided gain.

One thing is for certain, the fans are definitely behind this race, as all 230,000 of the grandstands seats are already sold out. All that is left is 'infield viewing mound' tickets for $55 (which they call GA, and does not include grandstand access).
From IMS:
Indy 500 Race Day Reserved Seats are SOLD OUT! General Admission tickets are still available for sale on IMS.com. Buy Tickets

Well that didn't go well. Took out Sting Ray Robb that sucked in itself.

Today was the most I have watched the 500 in years. What boring racing. Thank goodness for sprint cars.

Math evidently is not a strength for sprint fans. It is 1/1000 of US population=.001

I wonder how hard it is mentally to convince yourself to back off and run cautiously, waiting for the end to get aggressive compared to a sprint car where the races are so short you kind of have to get at it on lap one. Nascar might be similar in regards to strategy.

That was a bummer. I was hoping to see Larson do well, or at least an exciting race if he didn't. It was a drag seeing 2 cars fighting to keep from getting lapped for the last number of laps. I get it, They were fighting for position, but it wasn't a good look for the greatest spectacle motorsports to finish that way IMO.

Three crashes in one day for the golden boy - two of them totally self-inflicted. Good thing for Safer barriers or larson would have torn up a whole lot of walls and fences.

Is it really worth it to try the double? I don't get it. Concentrate on one race and be done with it. Superman was a fictional character.

Totally agree. It may be "the greatest spectacle in racing" but it certainly wasn't great racing today. I think the leaders follow those two cars for like 30 some laps and couldn't get by them.

Starting the day hoping to win a million bucks ending the day with a million dollars in scrap iron. Not bashing the guy but it definitely didnt go as planned.

The race of the weekend was at Port Royal and the way things went at Indy and 600 the double didnt work out. With Kyle out I had no interest in Indy. Then the 600 was not televised locally so watched the Weikart at the Port. The draw helped but Ruetzel had a great car and showed he could pass with Macri taking the lead. LD still runs the bottom as good as anyone. With Gravel and Brown it was a stout field. $100K races draw the best. With passing points amd inversion in heats makes passing cars important.LD was a 1/4 inch away from pole but Ruetzel had a great car.

The pre-race pageantry was amazing as always. Racing wasn't as good as most recent years but I still watched every second. Larson's double should be Indy and Port going forward. Get somebody else to drive that taxi.

Whatever driving techniques he uses that translate well for virtually every other car he drives don't work well in Indycars. He's been average to bad in 2 500 attempts and this May was a complete disaster.
