I see that Friday night, local teams will be choosing where to run, which seems like an odd play for both tracks, especially Port?
That said, this is 2 Fridays in a row that people are running against Williams Grove on Friday night. Is there blood in the water and everyone trying to stake their claim if Williams Grove closes?

Selinsgrove staking a claim if WG closes? Selinsgrove needs to make sure they don't close first.
As for Port, this is all to move the sport forward as with everything "Brad and Kyle" do. If you haven't heard they have the sports best interest in mind with every decision they make.

From what I understand either the Weikert family, or High Limit wanted a three day event sometime last year and announced they were going to run against The Grove on Memorial Day Friday without consulting Williams Grove mamangement. I was surprised at the time when they announced it. Lincoln has always run on the Saturday of The Weikert weekend, but it is just not good for the sport. As Jeremey Elliott, from Sprint Car Unlimited has always said, the promotors in Central Pa should sit down in a dark and smokey room and work out schedules that would benefit all the teams, the tracks and especially the fans. I hope both tracks are sucessful, but from a fan's point of view, this stinks.

I don't like the three day Weikert weekend, but I do wonder If Williams Grove Consulted Port Royal and Lincoln when they changed their Outlaw shows from Thursday/Friday to Friday/Saturday.

I don't think Selinsgrove is staking a claim to anything - considering it is only 3 Friday night conflicts. There use to be 3 Saturday night 410 tracks and still do 2 successfully. Heaven forbid a track fighting for it's life goes against the stand alone almighty 3 times.
IMHO - I think what they are trying to do is just stay alive......they are running mostly Saturday nights and they worked with Port Royal very closely on their schedule. 410's are Central Pa and what pays the bills. Sort of attempting to follow Susquehanna's playbook except instead of several Sundays they are trying 3 Friday nights.
Find it interesting Susquehanna (BAPS) which is now thriving - use to take heat for their piggy backing area tracks big shows.....and the oh they are going to over saturate the market running to many Sunday shows - they will never get a speedweek show etc.etc... now that they are in the good ole boys club it is all okay and they have a speedweek show.
Go against Williamsgrove and you lose your speedweek date - unless you are Port Royal who has been asking for "permission" to run on Williamsgrove's night for over a year.....
Smokey room or not seems you must play by 2-3 individuals rules.

I believe the 20-24 local teams to Lincoln aren't complaining.....how is it bad for the lincoln only cars and fans - who weren't going to Port Royal anyway. 48 drivers are making a feature Saturday night - I'm willing to wager more than 24 cars will not make the feature Saturday Night at Port......
I attend Lincoln maybe once a year and was very critical of their scheduling over the Jim Nace memorial; however, I'm not sure how Lincoln choosing to Run their regular Saturday night schedule has any impact on Port Royal. I think Lincoln should be commended for doing their regular thing this Saturday at a risk of losing money - but giving their smaller local and loyal 410 teams a chance at a win.

You misunderstood my comment. I have no problem with Lincoln running this Saturday. It has been that way for YEARS. Besides only a handful of Lincoln regulars will go up to Port Royal on Saturday anyway. I also do not have a problem with Port expanding to a three day weekend for The Weikert, although that is asking a lot of the fans. However, I am not sure how sucessful it will be in terms of fan attendence. I guess they are trying to make it a Knoxville or Eldora Crown Jewel event for High Limit. My problem is not even reaching out to The Grove mamagement to even kick it around. I love all five tracks in Central Pa, I just wish their was more cooperation between them so they can all thrive.

Communication between tracks:
I can only speak for the converesations between Port and Selinsgrove as i have first person (person was actually told himself by one of the promoters) account of these conversations.
I have heard with zero first person account Selinsgrove tried communications with Williamsgrove and didn't go well. Especially once the speedweek show was pulled.
My struggle is in the fact other than Port giving a 1 year notice - Port had little to no Communications with Williamsgrove yet they still have two speedweek shows - saying this as i have 4 reserved seats at Port.
I 100% agree with you on the 3 day concept i go to most Port races - and I have made the decision to only attend 2 of the 3 i love sprintcar racing but family time too - it is a huge ask on fans.
I also agree the tracks could and should work together - IMHO Selinsgrove has little pull/leverage in any of these discussions and it came to bare with the losing of their speedweek date. Selinsgrove was basically left for dead...trying to survive right now and the cooperation was minimal for them.

There is a chance that neither will race Friday so it won't matter. Maybe one or the other depending on where the rain hits.

The rain will be hitting them both the next 2 days so its a moot point there just like it has been hitting us the whole damn month of May plus temps in the 50s and now sun equals nothing will be drying out!!

I for one am glad it is going to rain the next two days. The track should be good the first night at least.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Rico - 6 wins
Donny - 0 wins
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

To be precise heard it from a friend who works the races at Port. There is a reason why there is not one single Saturday night conflict with the Late Models.
the conversation relayed to me was quite funny, and interesting....

Very kind of you to think of the rain helping the track at the Grove. Especially since the track at Port is nearly always good.

Port is good when it rains on race day. If it doesn't track is less than desirable!

I was not at Port , tonight, Friday. So I don't know how much it rained at the track. I am sure someone will tell me.
And also tell me what I am about to say is also nonsense. But did it really rain enough for the race to be called or was it a stroke of good luck for Port Royal?
I watched a few minutes of free hot laps on YouTube and the stands looked empty. The drone shot showed the stands very clear. Looked like maybe Port would have taken a financial beating if the race would have been run.

They weren't going to make alot which is the way with most three day shows but I don't think they were going to lose. I was surprised at how many people were there. Car counts were good in both divisions. At no time was everyone there in the stands. I didn't get there myself until after the hot laps that they ran were done any there was still people arriving. As for the track it was possible but it would have been late. After the sun was down and as cool as it was it would have been hard. It was still wet from the first rain when the second came. It does seem none of the sanctioning bodies like to run on a hammer down track. I am
sure there are people who were not that can tell you better than me though.
