Kinda crazy what PAS is charging for parking, $30 for Saturday's High Limit

I used to go to CA Speedway for Nascar cup races, ticket prices were cheaper than WOO at PAS, parking was free and you could bring in non alcoholic drinks and food.

PAS continues to be the one and only track that is on my list of HELL NO, too fricking expensive to (likely ever) attend (again).  Sad I used to go weekly during the Hey Day SCRA days with large car counts, no support division

That's highway robbery. The track has no say in the matter. I wonder if the fair board is trying to put the track out of business before their lease is up.  I used to go during the heyday as well. It's sad to see what it has become.

Sounds like Port Royal. Ripping off the fans that have been going there weekly for years , instead of trying to promote the track and bring in more new fans.

Living in Dallas, two tickets 15 rows up to the Mavericks/Pistons game this Friday including $49 for self parking located outside about 1/5 mile away is $613.42. Yes, there are cheaper tickets in the nosebleed area.

And if you want to save up to see Luka play when the Lakers return in April on a Wednesday (while kids still in school, middle of work week), including the same $49 parking, the same two row 15 seats are $4,415.01.

I don't like paying for parking either. But it's big city reality. And other than Ventura, I think PAS is the last remaining track in LA now that Irwindale is shut down.

It's all pretty much relative.

The Fairgrounds are the ones charging for parking at PAS - and my guess is their revenue streams are pretty limited there as well.

looking they  the fairboard only charge $10bucks to park at the southern kalifornia  fair and that includes free admision to the fair and the event isnt even listed on their schedule !!! ??? maybe they dont this event is even happening  

So you're telling me that a city in California where gas is $4.26 a gallon charges people to park at an event?
That settle it. No way am I going to drive 1685 miles to see a sprint car race if I have to pay to park. No siree! I'll just sit home and watch it snow.

Did they ever finish that huge infrastructure project near the track/ fairgrounds? Wasn't the track close to shutting down because of this? 

Agree.  These events cost money to put on, and it costs ridiculous amounts of money to maintain and prep the tracks.  Couple that with the fact that people's lives have shifted to a world loaded with club baseball, softball, lacrosse, basketball, and football, the next thing you know you don't have anywhere near as big of a possible audience to pull fans from.  It's a double edged sword.  Finding a way to pull in more revenue becomes a necessity that causes the opposite affect.  I would not want to be in these track's positions.  We have 2 choices:  1.  Bitch and complain about prices, not attend shows, and watch these tracks continue to close up.   2.  Realize this is a niche sport, and if we want it remain, and thrive, it's going to cost us.  

As you pointed out dmantx, sprint car racing is still the best deal in entertainment there is!  I take my family to at least 1 Chicago Blackhawks and Cubs game per year.  Each one costs me well over $1000 to attend, so we save all year for those 2 events.  Parking for those events can be anywhere from $50-60, depending on where you park.  Tickets can be $100 or $200 each, depending on how good they are at the time.  Consessions?  You don't even want to know!  

I have a seasonal camper at Knoxville and attend as many shows as I can.  Our seasonal camper, and all tickets to all events is probably cheaper than what we spend at the Blackhawks and Cubs games.  If Knoxville sent us a letter next year and said they had to double all camping and tickets, in order to justify being in business, it would STILL be the deal of the century. 

They aren't raising prices to make anyone go away.  They're trying to get the message across that they need a lifeline.  We as fans can either throw them one, or we can find something else to do in 10 years.

I have not bought a ticket to a US professional game in 11 years. Been to a few but the tickets were free. I parked a long ways away for nothing. I ate before I went and got one beer. The owners, players and leagues fight over billions and the fans get the shaft.......You know what, I DID pay for a game this year. I went to the Grey Cup in Vancouver. I sat in the 8th row for less than $100 and had a blast. 

The parking facilty at the PAS.....that is rough. You know you are screwing your tenant's fans and you just don't care. Hope you all cram 10 in a car and give em' the finger as you drive through.

Well seems like the camp grounds should be full for $5 less just go park in camping and save $5 and probably get to go out to your car since your now camping for 3 hours haha.

Yeah drive 700 miles then pay to stop. Thats where my buck stops I will stay on north side of grape vine this time.

Tulare was great show and we were out at 9pm .

Cost me $750 last week for 5 seats a dozen rows up in San Jose last Tuesday to see the worst team in NHL, S.J. Sharks.  It's a wonder anyone attends pro sports regularly any more.  Oh, by the way Ventura, where i lived for 25 years, ain't in L.A.  I understand what you're trying to say but the folks in Ventura are 60 miles north of Los Angeles.

That seems high but everything is higher in CA, and apparently that includes parking. Is this something new and why we're hearing about it more now?

In Iowa the iCubs, ( minior leage baseball ) you'll normally pay around $12 to park. $10 to go to an event at Wells Fargo which may include minor league teams, major conerts, and many other events. 

The most I've ever paid was $20 in Knoxville during the Nationals to walk two blocks from the track. If I really wanted to I could walk another 2-4 more blocks and pay much less. 

I'd guess that the cost of living in CA is almost double of what it is around here. 

If the parking lots are full then I guess they made the right choice and found what the market was willing to pay.

Yep, California is an expensive place to live in all ways but the minor league sports you mention are still a pretty good bargain..  I'm near Sacramento and they have a quite good AAA baseball team in the Rivercats and the tickets are relatively cheap.  The Oakland A's are going to play at the same park starting this season and for the (hopefully) next 3 seasons while they try to get a new $1.5 billion park built in Las Vegas.  They left Oakland, the crime capitol of the west coast, as did Denny's, In-N-Out Burgers and a slew of others and had some home games this season with only  few hundred spectators.  It will be interesting to see the price differences for the A's compared to the Rivercats in the same ballpark.  Stockton, some 30 minutes down the freeway from Sacto, had minor league hockey in a nice new arena till the team's affilliate, Calgary Flames, moved their farm team to Canada a couple years back..  Had paid parking for around $10 but I always parked on the street annd walked half a block.  Best seats were ariund $25 and the hockey was good.  Had the good fortune back in the '60s when I traveled for a very large construction company to land in a lot of cities that had minor legue hockey with the best seats about $6 in Columbus, Ohio, Fort Wayne, Indiana, Mechanicisburg, Pa, etc, as well as a lot of good race tracks both dirt and asphalt.Track prices were dirt cheap ( El Dora was $1.50 for the stands and a pit pass was $2.50) and I was in heaven those years. Young, making good money and could afford it.  Add in $.30 gas and it was as good as it gets. Yes, there really were good old days.

$30 in the hole before you walk thru the gate and you get a rubber down feature. Ouch.

Port rips the fans off so bad they canceled even when other tracks ran in Central PA with same weather.....Oh, wait, got that backwards....  Thanks Port Royal for running this weekend while other tracks didn't put the effort in.  A++ surface and great race as usual.

i think all of you Cali race fans should move to indiana....tickets to watch usac sprints 25 bucks...probably will be 30 this year and FREE parking and and its mostly bull ring bad ass racing....yea i know it snows there...but the tracks are alot nicer ...and the racing surface isn't bucking bronco style like the Cali tracks...only perris was ok....just saying
