January 1st playday to bring in 40th Anniversary year; Rain date will be the next clear Saturday by Bob Burbach
Marysville, CA - 12/14/07 - A reminder that on New Years Day, January 1st, promoters Paul and Kathy Hawes will present the first Play Day of the season. The newly configured track will be open for practice. Racers from any division will be welcome and it will be the first opportunity for serious contenders to test at MRP. A racer’s swap meet will also be presented in conjunction with the open practice.
With an “iffy” forecast cropping up in the days before New Year’s Day promoter Paul Hawes has decided that if the 1st of January doesn’t work, the next “clear Saturday” will be the rain date. Hawes is very interested in having the racers opinions and input before the season starts to roll. By doing it this way Hawes will have a couple of months to digest the input and make changes he thinks would benefit the 2008 40th Anniversary Season.
Watch for a schedule to be available in January or early February, though there is no set date for it’s publication. Special events are now being negotiated and a firm schedule is not yet available. As promoter Hawes gets closer to finalizing the schedule, all the info will be available on the web site. Hawes is always available for questions and inquiries.
Once again, this observer suggests driving taking a look at the improvments at the raceway. More than that, fire up your racecar and bring it on over to MRP on New Year’s Day. Hawes and his crew have worked tirelessly since the final 2007checkered flag. The 40th anniversary season is upon us and it should be a great one.
