Good stuff - the interview after the race was entertaining too...as it appeared the interviewer didn't know who he was.

It is a crying shame that an absolute thoroughbread who was born to run is going to be relegated to plow horse duty. And for who, for what? The money isn't that great down there anymore is it?

Most likely has his sights set on a Nascar future. I am sure the nascar bashers will have their opinions on that but it is what it is. If he has aspirations of doing that as a career then he needs to start taking the steps now because how backwards, jaded, and conceded as that place is now if he does not start now he will miss his opportunity. He has skill, seems like he is aligned with people with money and equipment so go for it if that is what you want to do. His life, his career, his decision.

Video itself, it appears it was just a regular weekly show and not a Cars Tour type show or a bigger type of LM show. Most of those are parades. It will be interesting if he does a Cars Tour race in the future and see how he does in that, I am sure he would do quite well. It does not shock me that the track interviewer did not know who he was as people in that region are very tunnel visioned when it comes to racing. They might know a little bit about some dirt late model but anything sprint car or outside of of fender racing they are in the dark. I remember all the hype that Kyle Larson & Christopher Bell had coming up in the sprint car world and if you went to a track you would see t-shirts everywhere with them no matter what the show. Then they made their first starts in the Busch Series (and yes I still call it Busch, screw the constant name changing) and everyone talked about them as if they had no racing experience at all or any fandom.

You ever watch lions at the zoo? You can always tell which ones were captured in the wild by the look in their eyes. The wild cat. She remembers running across the plain, the thrill of the hunt. Four hundred pounds of killing fury, locked in a box. But after a while, their eyes start to glaze over, and you can tell their soul has died.

Nascar is a  soul killer, Corey, Don't do it.

I recently moved up to Hickory for my job.  I've attended at least half of the races at Hickory.

The opening week, and most weeks after, have the twin 40s.  Standard weekly stuff.

Each week the car counts gets worse, and all the cars are more beaten up.

Either way, they still run pretty hard.  Its not as exciting as sprints, but I still appreciate the effort.

Someone showing up with a JR car and Paul as crew chief is obviously going to have an advantage over the weekly drivers, so Day winning isn't a surprise when they start practing extremely early in the morning.

The one I was extremely surprised with was the Buzz Ballz Reimer lady.  She raced a limited with used tires and put on a show.  I'd get her away from Arca and Truck.  Put her in a Busch car and get her ready for Cup.

Having watched Corey, his father, and uncle race sprint cars here in NorCal, i'd hate to lose him to NASCAR but I've also got to think it's just a little bit easier to make a living as a race car driver in NASCAR than it would to be in sprint cars. In my own career, which is not racing related, I spent several years doing what was fun and idealistic, then had a big corporation come and offer to double my salary and give me a lot better benefits, and quite honestly it wasn't a tough choice. I was able to buy a house put money away for my kids college and all that other stuff. Now what I do for a living either way, even the fun stuff is in no way even close to being as awesome as it would be to be a racecar driver, but I have to think on some level, the financial calculation is similar making a choice when NASCAR comes calling.

Sadly the money and chance of fame sucks drivers into NASCAR,  sometimes to early. They are all looking for or to be the next Kyle Larson and short cut the natural path there. Good thing there are a decent number of very good sprint cars drivers and young ones coming up. Hopeflly he won't become Corey who . . . . . .
