Will have the entire Karts, Quads, Mowers and full results up tomorrow if I can find power and internet connections. Ice Storm is very bad in Oklahoma over 500,000 businesses and homes without power at this time. Sorry for the delay guys.

5th Annual AMP Outlaw Winter Nationals - 3rd Annual Curley Sutton Memorial
Rnd # 6
Harrah Oklahoma - OK Corral Indoor Arena

Duval wins Curley Sutton Memorial Open Pro Singles Main Event

Ryan Neighbors takes win in B Karts

109 Entries competed during the sixth round of the 14 race 5th Annual AMP Outlaw Winter Nationals Short Track series held in conjunction with the Curley Sutton Memorial developed into a memorable event for all. Old Pro Joe Duvall returned from a brief retirement to do battle in honor of his good friend Curley Sutton. Sutton sponsored Gary Nixon, Fred Nix, Herb Hoo Doo Howard and Joe Duvall during his long life of promoting and sponsoring racers in Dirt Track motorcycle racing. Duvall teamed up with Pro Crew Chief Garry Baehler for the shoot out at the OK Corral. Duvall and Baehler improved the setup on the CRF-450 Honda from qualifying and stepped up their performance for the A Main.

Curley Sutton began his career as a test rider for the Indian Motorcycle Company, and later suffered injury in Ohio during a Dirt Track race. Curley loved motorcycle racing and later as an Indian, Matchless and BSA dealer he also wore hats as team owner, and track promoter. Sutton promoted Motorcycle Dirt Track races at the John Zink 1/2 Mile dirt and asphalt oval tracks, in Catoosa at the Tulsa Rambler's Motorcycle Club track, Tulsa Oil Capitol M/C Club Scrambles track near 68th and Memorial, Vera, Oklahoma at Buddy Cagle Speedway and in Foyil, Oklahoma at Dr. Dean's Thunderbird Speedway.

Larry Montague remembered some Sutton philosophy, once at Enid Montague told Sutton the track was so dusty he could not see, Sutton with an arm over Larry's shoulder told Montague, "It's not dusty up front, Montague." Another time Sutton advised Montague he was only doing two things wrong, "turning it off too soon and turning it back on too late." Dignitaries of Dirt on hand for the Memorial were Scott Adams, Vernon Epperson, Joe Duvall, Garry Baehler, and Orbin Adams.

Chelsea, Oklahoma based Joe Duvall riding a Garry Baehler prepared CRF-450 Honda went on to take the final checks in the Open Pro Singles A Main event. Alma, Arkansas rider Justin Thurman riding the Calvert prepared Yamaha won the AMP 7-UP Curley Sutton Memorial DFC, but fell short in the A Main when Duvall found the set up and went on to etch his name in the record book for the historic main event victory.

It was Tulsa, Oklahoma’s Justin Elswick a previous two three time AMP OWN Champ winning both the Open A and the 125/250 A contest. Elswick suffered from mechanical problems early during qualifying riding the Dopps prepared Honda, but managed to come back strong in the features. Elswick's competition Saturday night included Peyton Simpson and brother Dylan Simpson rounding out the top three in the both the 125/250 A and the Open A class.

Edmond based Wesley Collins continued to wow the crowd by repeating his winning streak and taking home three first place trophies for the night. Noah Prescott remains 2nd in points in the PW A division behind class leader Collins.

Tony Opichka led Sebastin Ellingsworth and Haley Harmon to the finish line taking the final checks and the win in the PW BB defeating all challengers. Two “My First Race” trophies are named after Katie Medrano and are awarded to youth class racers who enter their first race in their career at the AMP OWN series. Those have become one of the most cherished trophies for the youth class division.

Sponsors for the series include Cycle 1, Atwoods Ranch and Home, Daley’s Speed Shop, FMF of So. California, Twin Air Filters, Moto Master Brake Systems, 7 UP, Ozarka Water, Frank’s Trailers, Daddy Hinkle's Steaks, Jamil’s Steak House, Marriott Lawton, Quick Break Phillips 66, Harbor Freight Tools, Light Shoes, and many more.
