To those cheering for Schatz to pass with five or less to go for the lead and beat a 17 year old who has never won in a 410 at Knoxville, are you even human? Smile

I agree completely, this format is awesome and I can't believe there are people on here that think it should change.   The regular WoO format bores the hell out of me, so I'm thankful they don't control the format for the Nats.

This is a great format!  Second to none.

It seems like some pretty low points scores from last night compared to most years. The top 16 in points after tonight may be skewed heavily towards tonight's qualifiers, unless crazy things happen again like last night.

It also hleps when the luck of the draw sets up not having to pass a single car that runs on a national series the entire night.  Not going to to try to take too much away from Donny because his resume speaks for itself, but it wasn't exactly murderer's row for him last night.

Pulled for schatz and didn't feel bad for it. Randall battled with him and won over some new fans because of it. Schatz did exactly what he needed las night, worked his way into heat race transfer then raced to the win in the A. That's why he has 11 nat championships.

Madsen runs all-stars in the 55 car now and I swear I saw him pass Sheldon 2-3 times.  Hahn is a National Touring Series Champion, Schuerenberg toured for the last 4-5 years and was this year until June, Kahne was Full time WoO until about 3 months ago, Shaffer (heat race) was running a touring series until last week, Crouch (Heat race) IRA don't count I reckon.  Not sure why you are trying to minimize the performance, but whatever.

Is passing Noah Gass or Robbie Price, Bill Rose (WoO) or Sye Lynch, Hickle, Connor Morrel (All Stars) more impressive than passing Madsen, Peck, Sanders, Day, PPM, Kofoid, Brown, Schurenberg, because they havn't run every race of any touring series this year?

Great performance and there are many many GREAT drivers that pick and choose where they run.

Agreed. Those are conpetitive cars at most tracks with decent budgets.

From my calculations I found it very interesting that A main starters 9 thru 20 timed 29 thru 40 in the exact same order

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Cool Observation.

The good thing about the Nationals format though, is many of those A main starters/finishers that timed bad still have fewer points than the quick timers who didn't make the A.... every lap matters.

Thursday does seem to be much more stacked than last night. They need an NCAA tournament selection sized commitee to seed these 2 groups of cars. They could even cap off the field at 96 and have a big selection show the week before. Then we could all argue about why certain local & regional racers didn't make it in. The Cappy could be a 'race-in' event. What a tremendous idea.

Your welcome.

I think they did a good job of the split.

WoO - Wednesday - 2nd, 5th, 6th, 7th  in points and Mcfadden (only not top 7 because of the penalty earlier) (even?)

WoO - Thursday, 1st, 3rd, 4th, 8th,

All Stars - Wednesday - 1st, 3rd, 4th in points (advantage)

All Stars Thursday - 2nd, 6th, 7th in points

PA Wednesday - Marks (advantage)

PA Thursday - Macri

Knoxville Wednesday - Reutzel, Jeffrey

Knoxville Thursday - Brown, A. McCarl (advantage)

California Weekly Wednesday - Day (advantage)

California Weekly Thursday - Golobic

True Outlaws Wednesday -  Peck, Sanders, PPM, Shurenberg, Cole Macedo, Bacon

True Outlaws Thursday - Larson, Rico, Eliason, Pittman, Stewart, Kofoid (advantage)

Seems like they did a good job splitting it up at least with the top 30 or so in the U.S.  Yes some hitters who most people had for locks to lock into Saturday (McFadden, Reutzel, Sheldon) or even win it all (Gravel) didn't have great  nights/bad luck, it was still divided well, IMO.

In no way do I consider the WoO between the two nights even. Thursday clear advantage for WoO, True Outlaw, and Knoxville Regulars. The winner will come out of those categories and it won't be a Knoxville Regular either.

But I respect your opinion as mine isnt the gospel either.
