I was amazed at the lack of Pennsylvania cars at Husets for the High Banks Nationals. I was told it was partially  due to the displeasure with the payout further back in the fields of the B and C features. Anyone care to coment on this.

I'll guess they were home in Pennsylvania for speed week?

I vote speedweek. A few California cars stayed home too.

Speedweek in pa pays well enough so that teams don't have to spend 10K in travel, lodging and everything else. Smart move I would say.  Remember one thing, the tracks in pa are motor monsters, grove with those long straights is probably the hardest on motors. Port Royal and Selinsgrove are both big and fast tracks that also take a lot of motor. There speedweek schedule is a tuff week.

If it were the Knoxville Nationals,  they would have been there for sure!  It wasn't so they decided to race PA speedweek.  I agree with that decision.  Don't get me wrong, Husets had a great 4 nights of racing.

Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Anyone hear why Aaron Ruetzel left Husets and went to Skagit

Who are you really talking about? Marks and Macri? Obviously they are not afraid to travel as they both are following The High Limits series and have wins against The Outlaws, All Stars and High Limits this season. Why travel 2500 miles when they can sleep in their own beds, and race ten times at Pa Speedweek for some pretty good money. Macri has won close to $20,000 in two nights of racing.

Makes perfect sense...

I would have liked to see them at Huset's too, but I'm not paying the bills....

OooH! So subtle that most didn't even catch it. wink It appears that rovanber was really suggesting that the PA Posse weren't there because they would be running at the back of the B&C mains....

I disagree. I'd say guys like Macri who are good local racers would do well on an unfamiliar track 1200 miles from home in a typical weekly race. Only 2 local guys made the A feature. If Macri had been there, I believe he would have made the A feature and could have easily pulled off a top20 finish. +

My favorite thing about the "2500 miles" thing is that Macri was literally at Husets for a local show 3 weeks ago. I think he realized he wasn't ready to compete for wins and decided staying home made more sense. I also completely disagree that if Pa Speedweeks ran against the Nationals that Pa cars would still come. If you can cherry pick and win 3 or 4 Speedweeks shows when the tough outside competition is elsewhere you'd kind of be dumb not to.

Husets goes up against big races in WA and PA.  It was never going to exceed 100 cars like the Nationals does with it's long standing tradition.  Personally I like seeing the Midwestern guys that support the track week in and week out getting a shof at a big payday.  Our world in this part of the country does not revolve around PA and CA.  I present TK's exchange with the driver of the 49 during a yellow at Husets as evidence.  wink

My bad. I thought I saw his name in the results of the first qualifying night but I was wrong.  Sorry about that.

Google Knoxville Iowa to Skagit Speedway in Washington.   He may not have left Husets, but Id be willing to bet he drove right by..

So many mid west stars venture to pa. Brian Brown and, and, and. LOL. Knoxville/ Huset's  teams travel very little compared to Pa teams.

I don't dig down deep into the weekly Sprint Car drama.  In case you haven't noticed it's something every week and for me it's x 63 years.  Just not worth caring about in the big scheme of things.

Drilling down into the weekly drama is akin to going to a strip club and spending the night listening to the strippers tell how they're doing it to work their way though school.  I'm not interested in their drama, I just want to see them do their thing.  I keep the racing drama at arms length and enjoy the entertainment.  Likewise with purses, I don't care anymore about their potential winnings than they care about my retirement check.  wink

Next year we will see how much Speedweek affected the HighBanks. Looks like PA Speedweek will start later to allow PA teams the opportunity to go to Husets.  Info source... PA Speedweek Twitter
