Gee, the car owned by the guy that owns Husets Speedway and the car that was sponsored by Husets all season and this week is sponsored by Billion Auto, who also sponsors the event wins the High Bank Nationals. Who would have thunk it. I'm not accusing anyone of wrong doing but it looks bad to the casual fan. Like if Roger Godell owned the NFL team that wins the Super Bowl.

so did Gravel get access to the track for private practice sessions for this race or something?

I would say say this is the dumbest thing I've read on this board, but it's not  lol

To put on an event of this quality and excellent payout and even with the rain get over at a reasonable time the top 4 cars were fast all week. Buddy was the class of the field but blew up not much different than flat tire except done. The track was fast maybe too fast but all in all a great race.Of the top 3 Gravel probably will make good use of his share of the purse.

They say crew chiefs win or lose races and I think in this case this is very true. The 83 junior car was crazy fast in the king of the hill and I suspect was tuned to be living or dying on the very edge. That's a choice you make to win races, in this case it backfired or blew up which ever word  you wanted use. The track seemed better for passing in the "heats" Before the rain.

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I have a theory based on Kyle Larson series co-owner winning a high limit race and the Husets car winning the Husets High Bank Nationals.  Continuing this trend Tony Stewart owns Eldora so I predict that Schatz will win the Eldora Million.  All the signs point in that direction.

Seriously, there are no surprises or conspiracies as those would be legit choices regardless of who they drive for.

I don't know. I would suspect that everyone had their engines tuned to kill for 1/4M. Sometimes they just blow. I'd call it bad luck, sucks for Buddy. I would have loved to see a non-outlaw win it.

You left out the part where they paid off the National Weather Service to rain on the track and make it match the setup that only Gravel's car was set for. That doesn't sound any dumber than anything you've put forward.

Viva the Mopar Million.  $200,000 to WIN. Three positions paying $100,000 or more.  $10,000 to START.  And that was twenty years ago.  With inflation, what would that be today?

I agree completely!     David Gravel winning a WoO race?   C'mon, that never happens.

Clearly stated I did not accuse anyone of doing anything wrong. Just that it looked bad to casual fans, that is all. Like I said, suppose people found out the NFL commissioner was the majority owner of the K. C. Chiefs. Does not mean the Chiefs were not good enough to actually win the Super Bowl, but it would sure look bad for the NFL.

I was just a youngster at 52 when we rented a motorhome and drive to Eldora for the Million in 2003.  Travel companions were Cedar Lake and UMSS photographer Vince Peterson and his father Les and Greg Parent aka GRP Motorsports. Yes, that is the same GRP that sponsors a bunch of Sprint Cars and the recent Jackson, Knoxville and Husets sweep bonus among others.

Aside from that my memories are fuzzy.  I remember introducing myself to JP Jr. and telling him I knew JP3.  Roger Rager and Travis Whitney were racing and we talked to them.  Aside from that I remember the campground, a guy from Indiana next to us who had a bunch of beers and Haud laying on the horn Sunday morning on the way to his bank.

They tell me that I had a good time.

You had to know this was gonna be brought up. It shouldn't surprise anybody. There is one thing though, that I think the World of Outlaws should do. And this should probably be done at all races. But for sure done at all these high paying specials. And that is, they should check the motors to make sure they're 410 cubic inches. And I think they should go one step further than tubing the motors. I think they should pull the head off. and check the bore and stroke. the outlaws are very concerned about tire doping I can't see why they're not concerned about the motors being 410 cubic inch. I had mentioned this other places, and I was told by a former World of Outlaw crew chief. Ridiculous and didn't need to be done. Because they spend time trying to detune the motors. I guess because of dry track conditions. My response to that was. I see them farming the tracks all the time, trying to make. the tracks good for the a feature so they can hook the cars up and have a good race. or in the case of Saturday night's a feature at Husets. Mother nature took care of giving us a good race track. So the cars were hooked up. And could put every bit of the power to the track. I'm not sure how many cars they pull tire samples from. If it's the top three in the a main. or just how many it is, but I think in these high paying shows they should check at least the top three in the feature. And then maybe randomly check one or two, or possibly three other cars that made the Feature To see if they are 410 cubic inch. What's everybody else think of this? Do you think there could be any cheating going on? Or do you think everybody's playing by the rules? Should they check the motors or not? From what I understand, Knoxville checks. the winner's motor of the Nationals.

It appeared to me that the air was a little better than they thought it was. and maybe had the Toyota a little too lean. and burnt a piston. Really sucks, I really would've liked to see Buddy win that race. Like you said everybody was going after. The maximum horsepower.
