All these spam posts coming in to this message board are getting old, and I'm sure you're as tired of looking at them as I am for notifying them to delete their account, then deleting their posts.

Maybe an option is to fight fire with fire.

When you see a spam post (before I have a chance to zap it) click on the user name and then click 'send email to (username). Send them a one sentence email that says QUIT SPAMMING THE HOSEHEADS MESSAGE BOARD AND DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT AT ONCE!

There are like 30,000+ hoseheads forum users, and even if 100 or so of you do that when you see a spam post, maybe they'll get tired of seeing OUR emails telling them to piss off.

Can't hurt, right?

Anyway, there's been quite the rash of them. I check in every 4-6 hours a day and there's always a fresh batch that have popped up.

In any case, there's a ton of great sprint car races coming up this weekend and over the next few weeks, hope you all can take in as many as you can!

I think when you send that info to Hoseheads, it just alerts the moderators that they have to nuke the spammer. I think Darin is trying to get the spammers to not spam HH to start with.

Well, dang. The forum email system crashes when you try to send an email to a user.

I've contacted Allan to put in a 'fix it' ticket...lol.

So I guess it is what it is for right now.

Thanks to those that have been trying anyway.

That string of spam messages literally came up after I put up this post, then I got busy and came back to find all of them a couple hours later, and deleted them all.

I can't imagine one person reading and then acting on one of those spam posts. They're just wasting everyone's time - including their own.

Spamming is an illness that people with no morality are infected with. Phone, email, texts, message boards and even knocking on the door........man, they all suck ass. We have two signs on our porch basically telling solicitors to F O and they still ring the bell. There is NO way to avoid it, unfortunately. I'll help this message board as much as I can, keep us posted Darin.

The problem is the spammers email is a temp email that they set up so it isn't really a email that they check they only use it to spam with or it might be a one time use email account they used to just set up the account to get verified.

Growing up in Austin, MN, Spam was simply a part of our life.

411 - the 'send email to user' function appears to be working again...just as another fresh crop of spam messages has been posted.

Again, who knows if mass messaging these spammers will help or not - but my experience is: doing something is better than nothing. I've already had to send out 4 messages to spammers just this morning.

In any case, I hope a bunch of you get to go to this week's huge event at Huset's...it certainly will be a wild and memorable show.

A bit of good news to share on the spammer issue.

Jeff is programming me a button that I can press that will delete spammer messages - and their account.

And since he fixed the 'email user' function, I've actually gotten some responses from the spammers - so I know emailing them was working to a certain level anyway.

And the way Jeff fixed the 'email user' function, it allows me (and you) to copy/paste the contents of the email so it comes right back to a blank email to the spammer - - - so in the manner of about 15 seconds I can resend that email to the spammer about 10 times...and based on the spammer responses, they're not thrilled with getting 10 'delete account' messages in their inbox,..LOL...so how's that for giving them a taste of their own medicine. LOL.

Have a great and safe Holiday weekend, all...
