....A driver takes the lead with 8 to go in the first feature, only to get passed back with one lap to go...then in the evening show the same driver starts 8th and races his way to a $25,000 win at Jackson.
For me, growing up going to races there during the supermodified era in 1971, promoting some events with the VFW association and later on with Denny Houseman, and covering for Tom Savage on the mic on occasion when his voice would go out, I would have never dreamed, then, Jackson could have grown to the point of having blockbuster events such as these. The track didn't have a population base like Des Moines or Sioux Fallas in its relative backyard to pull a large fan base from. It definitely gained an assist from the Iowa Great Lakes area.
Kudos to everyone involved - throughout the years - to keep the spirit alive and giving us the sport we love all while the business world and society continues to change/evolve.
Smart business owners know that in some cases what worked, then, may no longer be what customers want, now. And those business owners continue to do the best they can to mold their business to what they feel will be the best-case scenario for everyone...but there's never going to be a one-size-fits-all solution anymore.
Again, great job Jackson Motorplex officials for making State Fair-quality lemonade out of the lemons the weather scenario presented, and gave fans two exciting racing programs - and the faster drivers the ability to pass cars.
As a former track employee at Jackson? When Danny Houseman was the promoter. It's great to see everybody enjoyed the races. And the weather finally cooperated for Saturday. I still believe Jackson is one of the nicest if not. The nicest facility in the country. When it comes to having everything in one place. Camping parking. You can't beat it. Now I just hope they work on getting the weekly program. Back in shape. Still, honestly believe it can be a weekly program. And not what they're doing right now. But that's up to Tod and Doug. I've put my thoughts and ideas out there. For good or bad. The main thing is. I love Jackson. Speedway or motor plex, whatever you wanna call it. I've been going there for 60 years. And wanna see it succeed and continue to grow. Glen Murra

Great racing! Cars passing all over the place. Major props to the track crew. Looking forward to next year.
Yes, major props to the track crew! That was a great track for the finals! They took there time before the feature and reworked the top and bottom and it was perfect for the feature! It didn' take long either.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Our family business started Spirit Lake Bakery night when we were a sponsor on Joel Taylor's car around 1976, then we grew it to Spirit Lake Night and continued to grow it into University of Okoboji night.
At that point I was a route driver for our wholesale division and hit up all the area businesses for sponsor $, that then evolved into the Hardee's sponsorship and I drug Denny's car around to the local Hardee's for pre-promotions.
