A very good feature...that is why they reworked the track.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Track rework provided for a fantastic race. And still out by 10. Kudos to Haubstadt

Race would have been just as good without rework. There was no issue with the track. Why in the hell does every track think people want to watch farming. It's crap that this is the norm now.

Thats just the way they do things there every week. Did you get to see a good race? Was it dusty?

I'm probly in the minority and not pointing fingers at your right to bitch, but I don't understand the "fan" that wants to plop down $30-$40 for a ticket and $20+ for concessions, then make the number one concern that they "out by 10" or a show that is complete in 2.5 hours. Kids, long drive home and such is a casual fan concern, I've been doing the fan/crew member/owner/driver thing way too long I guess to care about being home before the 11 O'Clock news. I just wanna see a good race on a decent track.
My kids slept at the track better than their own beds growing up. I can drive 2-3 hours with the adrenaline and talking about the races on the way home without falling asleep driving, so those concerns aren't mine I guess, but I know they are out there because I hear them often from the casual fan.
You coulda went to Attica and been out by 930, but not been able to see half the track cuz of the dust at the All Star race.
Haubstat Track work made the feature what it was. It woulda been one lane without it.
If you turn into a pumpkin at 11p.m. go to day races and watch one lane parades.
Thanks to the tracks that give a shit and work the track to give us good races.

Went to 9 races in person last summer. 5 had rework but 1 was due to rain that moved thru so that doesn't count. So 4 out of 9 I watched tractors jacking around for an hour. I don't pay to watch that and it's boring and drags the show out. Been to alot of races thru my 52 years and rework used to be rare, now it happens all the time. When the fans don't show remember there are reasons for it.

I understand the mentality, but I've been to lots of races as well in my life and I have many many many more times been dissapointed by a bad not racy track or dust bowl track than I have a drug out show to make a better race.
Again, I understand that the complaint exists, but I still feel it's more of a casual fan thing because die hard fans want to see a good race first, then all the other stuff would come behind that I would think (Parking, concessions, bathrooms, seeing a fast show, music at intermission etc..).

I give every track a one major rework a night *If needed* But Haubstadt has done two or three each time I've been there. all minumum fourty five minutes. Once for a 15 car field race. They reworked after practice then after heats. . Total of actual racing time. probably 12-15 minutes heats and feature. Not counting yellows. Total of farming time. 1.5hrs.

Chas you are exaggerating what Tri State does. Most people appreciate it after the finale. If you don't like it, don't go.

Its a question of balance
I agree that track should be in great shape for the feature, & I'm in no hurry to leave
But sometimes it takes way too long. My one trip to Eldora for the 4 Crown several years ago, Tony worked the track FOREVER.... I had to leave midway thru Silver Crown feature (Last race), cause I kept nodding off while watching, & didn't want to fall asleep at the wheel on the way back!...... I don't know squat about track prep, maybe it was necessary, but it was too much for me

Um yeah, Tri-State had a standing room only crowd, so they must be doing something right.

This is an issue at alot of dirt tracks anymore. They all think it's acceptable to farm things when not needed. If it's going to rubber down yeah work it.

Im not exagerating. Anyone who has to drive more than a hour realizes that time is getting them home later.
Yes they get good crowds and it races good. But even some competitors know that running full throttle is tearing up their cars and burning down motors, Most tracks slow down, create different lines etc as the night goes on, Huabstadt is like hot laps at the beggining of every race. Also makes passing in the heats hard.
Not knocking it. Just think more than one till in a night is OVERKILL.

Running full throttle and burning down motors is what racing is supposed to be. A track or plan to prevent the racers from being as fast as possible is anti-race.
I do believe they have automobile competitions based on going a specific speed and getting to your check points at specific time intervals. I dont think they call it racing.
Racing is covering a distance as quickly as possible, thus full throttle and hard on engines
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Any golfers here have seen these same guys on the course....plunk down major $ on green and cart fees, only to rush through each hole to see how fast they can get done so they can rush back home.
Agree with everything you said.

I couldn't agree more with this statement. Sprintcars should be on the verge of being out of control every lap they are on the track.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!

Track farming drives me crazy. I prefer tracks that never bring out the tractors, but I will endure one track farming a night. If I ever go to a show that is trying to farm the track for the second time, I usually will get up and leave.
Another item to consider when talking about long running shows is a persons normal sleep habits. I have worked in manufacturing for the last 20 years. I have had to be at work at 6am every day. When your body is used to waking up at 4:45am every day, you body wants to go to be earlier as well. I am normally in bed between 9 and 10 every night. For me to stay up till midnight at the track and then drive home for an hour is defintiely not normal. If I am going to completely wreck my slepping habits, I want it to be for a good reason. Watching track farming is not worth it.
Also, when you go to an event that is trying to beat out a rain storm, it is eye opening. When the track/promoter wants to get done early to beat the weather, they can make it happen. Why can't we have this same urgency every night?
