I think they use luck of the draw for heats.  Then they use point for the feature.  I don't know how many they invert in the feature.

But I do know Marks came from 9th to win last night at Lincoln.  Congrats to him!!

Season points?

How do they line up the first 2 from each heat in the feature? Straight up or inverted points? What about everyone else? Does your heat finish affect starting position in feature?

From what I can remember.  If there are 4 heats....the top 3 in the heats will be inverted by points to the front of the field.  So in this case there would be 12 inverted by points for the feature.

What are you talking about?  I was trying to explain the how the line up the cars for the feature.  Brent came from 9th to win.... wasn't complaining...just stating facts.

This was actually the first reasonable conversation with him in a LOOONNNG time...

He's trying to share info, give him a break wink

But I still don't get how they line up the feature after the first 2 from each heat....

ok, lets say they invert 12 highest in the points.

On this given night we have 4 heats.  The top 3 in each heat get the hadicap.

Lets say numbers 2 through 12 in points finish in the top 3 in the heats, with 13th in points making it into the top 3 in the heats.

your starting lineup will look like this for the feature.  I am using the point position for the top 12.

front row 13 - 12

2nd Row 11 - 10

3rd Row 9  - 8

4th row 7 - 6

5th row 5 -4

6th row 3 - 2

7th row  1 - 14  they both finished 4th in the first two heats.

8th row  15 - 16 they both finished 4 the the last two heats.

9th row  17 - 18 the both finished 5th in the first two heats.

10th row 19 - 20 the both finished 5 in the last two heats.

This is how it used to be.  I am thinking it is still the same type of system.

Page 4 of the 2022 Rule book.

Heats are a full invert for average points. top 2 in each heat are inverted for the front of the A

" The line-up for handicapped events will be determined by using a driver’s season points average. A driver
must compete in one race to have an average. Drivers with no average will start at the rear of
a heat race. 410 heat races will be lined up using the season points average. If there is a tie,
the driver with the most appearances at Lincoln will take the better starting position, if that is
also a tie, the driver with the most top 5 finishes at Lincoln will take the better starting
position, if that is also a tie a coin toss will decide the tie. 358 heat races will be lined up by
draw. Both 410 and 358 feature events will use the season points average. If there is a tie for
the feature, the driver with the better heat race finish will have the better starting spot, if there
is a tie, the driver with the most appearances at Lincoln will take the better starting position,
if that is also a tie, the driver with the most top 5 finishes at Lincoln will take the better starting
position if that is also a tie a coin toss will decide the tie.
If up to 16 cars are entered for a division’s racing event, two (2) heat races will be run. If
there are 17-24 cars three heat races will be ran, 25-32 cars entered, a fourth heat will be
added, if 33-40 cars a fifth heat race will be added, and if there are 41-48 cars a sixth heat
will be added (no more than 8 cars will be placed in a heat race line-up).

410 and 358 Sprint Car feature line-ups as follows: If two heats are run, the top two finishers
will be handicapped to the front. If three heats are run, six will qualify with the top two
finishers handicapped to the front. If four heats are run, five will qualify with top two finishers
handicapped to the front"

Thanks....It is real close to what is used to be.....now they just handicap the top 2 in each heat.  I also like there will not be anymore than 8 cars in a heat.

Thanks, but I already read that before I asked the question here (I'm not THAT lazy! wink )

Its pretty confusing,  still doesn't answer the question of how they line up the cars behind the first 12 inversion.

Strawser's reply was pretty good..... they line up by heat finish, right?

5th row 5 -4

6th row 3 - 2

7th row  1 - 14  they both finished 4th in the first two heats.

8th row  15 - 16 they both finished 4 the the last two heats.

9th row  17 - 18 the both finished 5th in the first two heats.

10th row 19 - 20 the both finished 5 in the last two heats.

This is how it used to be.  I am thinking it is still the same type of system.

Thanks! Smile
