I'm curious what others thought about the concession food at Husets last night. I personally thought it was terrible (I had the philly fries) and  spendy ($15). Ended up tossing it and went with reliable pizza ranch. Hard to beat the Barrel House that was there, but not sure why they parted ways with track. Assuming something to do with money.

As somebody from outside Philly I shudder to ask what 'Philly Fries' are.

I've never had their Philly Fries but thought the food was a little high for what I got. It made me appreciate Knoxville's concessions ran by Kirsti and Nick a little more.

best to give your concerns on food to tack owner and food people.  We are very lucky at Knoxville.

I have a pretty good guess.... they put all the wet stuff on the fries way before selling it, got mushy.
Thats what they did with nachos at Oskaloosa  a few years ago, Cheese must have gone on an hour before selling it...mushy & yuck

People "fake it" all the time. I made the mistake of trying "Cajun fries" recently in Connecticut.... just regular fries with way too much hot pepper, couldn't finish them. frown

I've been going to Louisiana on a regular basis since 1978... NEVER saw anything called "cajun fries"... or potato chips, for that matter....

I go to both Huset’s and Jackson Motorplex races frequently. Both tracks owned by the same person. You would think that the concessions offered at the two tracks would be same or similar. Not true - Jackson Motorplex has the noticeably better concession offerings and lower prices.

I had the Philly fries Sunday night and mine were really good. Guessing it kinda depends on if the fries had been sitting or not.

The reason the concessions are different is they are run separate.  Tina McCorkell runs the Jackson concessions and has for a while going back to when Jon had the track.  She also runs Fairmont and knows what the heck to do and how to have good concessions.

The Husets deal, I've heard, has had something like 3-4 different concessionaire's run the place.  They are restaurant people who think they can do the same thing as their restaurant.  However serving 3000+ people a night, mostly before the race and intermission, is a far cry from having a 50 person restuarant.  Not sure who has it now but the last ones quit because they couldn't handle the work plus the labor shortage.
