Garland TX (06/28/21) by DarinShort.com. *THIS SATURDAY* July 3 at 8PM (hot laps) winged outlaw sprint car racing fans are going to be in for a wild night of action and excitement when the touring teams of the Bandits Outlaw Sprint Series tear up the dirt at ‘The Land of the XL,’ 82 Speedway, with the running of the Flags & Fireworks 25 presented by Smiley's Racing Products, Griffith Truck & Equipment and The Peterson Agencies.

The Toys For Tots Fundraiser & Toy Drive at 82 Speedway July 3rd event continues to gain traction, and in addition to the Race Car Parade in downtown Paris being organized by Shawonna Rhoades at 9am, we now have sponsors onboard that have added an additional $2,700 to the Bandits Outlaw Sprint Series event purse…now paying $2,000 to win, $400 to start and $200 to all non-qualifiers!

ENJOY A BIG FIREWORKS DISPLAY during intermission! Plus: KIDS that bring an unwrapped toy (approximate $10 value) for TOYS FOR TOTS will get in G.A. for free! Military Veterans (with ID) get in G.A. for free!

RACING TEAMS: Bring your trailered race car to the Paris Courthouse at 9am on Saturday morning for a parade through downtown! Then bring your American Flag, Texas Flag or Military Flags to the track, mount them to your racecar and take part in the Race Car Flag Parade on the racetrack during the fireworks at intermission!

Fans can expect a talent-loaded field of Bandits Outlaw Sprint Series drivers from throughout the region...plus some ‘invaders’ can be expected! A full program of 82 Speedway racing divisions are on tap: USRA Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Limited Modifieds; and the Texas Stocks, Eco Stocks and Eco Mods will round out the racing card (details below). The ‘Bandits will be the third division out in feature running order.

TRACK DIRECTIONS: The beautiful .26 mile dirt oval of 82 Speedway is located about 15 minutes west of Paris, directly on Hwy 82 in Petty Texas (exactly 1 mile east of the Petty Texas exit on the south side of Hwy 82), 16369 US Hwy 82 Petty, TX 75470. FANS: Stands open at 6:00pm. Adult GA $20, Kids 6-11 $5, Seniors $15. Pit Passes $35 (Pits Ages 5 & Under $15). US Veterans (with ID) will be allowed in the main grandstand free on July 3. Kids (ages 11 and under) bringing a Toys For Tots toy drive (unwrapped toy, approximate value $10) will be admitted to the grandstand free. Outside food/drink coolers (around the size of a 12-pack) are allowed in for $5 but cannot contain glass, and beer is OK if the person is at least 21 years of age. Coolers should not take up grandstand seating if the crowd size dictates.

RACING TEAMS: Pits open by 4pm but you can arrive anytime in the afternoon before the pits get cleared (around 4pm). Sprint Pit Meeting/Cutoff 7:00pm sharp, Track divisions Pit Meeting/Cutoff 7:30pm. Hot Laps 8:00; then we will go right into the racing program. Transponders & RaceCeivers required in all divisions (nightly track rental of transponders available for $15 plus ID). No mufflers are required by 82 Speedway. All cars will draw for heat race starting position, all heats earn finishing and passing points, features are straight up.

Details of the $500 www.KoolTrikes.com "Last Lap Pass For The Win" Award: If a driver passes the lead car on the last lap of the A-feature event - and takes the win - that driver will win a $500 bonus from Kool Trikes of Clarksville, Texas! Bonus details: for example, if car number 1 is scored the leader at the end of lap 24, and if car number 2 passes car number 1 on that final lap and takes the win, car number 2 wins the bonus. There has to be pass for the lead on the 25th lap, and the lap 24 and lap 25 scored leaders must be different for the award to be won. Attention Racing Fans & Teams: in addition to the $12,000 'Flags & Fireworks 25' event for the Bandits Outlaw Sprint Series at 82 Speedway this Saturday night at 8pm, Shawonna Rhoades is organizing a pre-event parade, with trailered racecars, through downtown Paris TX on Saturday morning at 9pm as a part of a huge Toys For Tots drive!

After the parade, the action shifts to 82 Speedway with the Toys For Tots drive collection center set up by the main grandstand ticket booth.

Kids ages 11 and under that bring a new, packaged (but not giftwrapped) toy (approximate $10 value) will receive free grandstand admission to the July 3rd event at 82 Speedway!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but admission for a 12 year old is $20? And 11 and under is the value of $10?  

So, a 12 year old, no job, dependent on it's parents for money, is charged the same as an adult?  And a Senior, who most likely is a long time fan and most likely can afford the $20, gets a $5 break?  Now, what's wrong with this policy?  At a minimum, shouldn't there be a family package that allows those less financially fortunite to be able to afford to take the whole family?  Say a family of 4 or 5.  

As in the past when I've answered this question to you, many of the tracks we go to in Texas virtually have the same exact pricing structure for kids...ages 6-11 or 12 are $5, then everyone from there on up is the stated ticket price.

Each track sets and publishes their own ticket prices. The series does not lease the track or control pricing.

Not that you're asking my opinion on the subject, but I guess I don't see why some people think that dirt track event ticket pricing should be much different than other sporting events, or entertainment options such as going to a movie.

Right now I had some family members want to go check out the new Fast and Furious movie...and here's what the posted ticket prices are for our local theatire...which in direct comparison to a dirt track event last night is a much better family deal than a movie that only lasts about 90 minutes:
