Have not seen or heard any news about social distancing at Huset's for the Sept. 5 & 6 WoO races. Does anyone have any info?
|
Do you think it will be any different than the August 3rd AllStars race that resulted in a great big outbreak of nothing?

For some of you that think having a race will mean the end of mankind I have a solution.
The WoO race at Husets has been cancelled and replaced with a sit in Protest of Chuck Brennan. Since protest are exempt from rules, laws, and policies in force everything will be fine.
You're welcome

True story...where are all the bodies from those who attended that race?

Most likely not, but the risk is definitely higher now that COVID has worked its way into the WoO community.
August 3rd didn't lead to cases because it's extremely likely no one who attended had it - it looked like an absolute packed house with no social distancing or mask policy.
Good result? Absolutely. Sustainable? Probably not.

It would be almost zero percent chance that no one had it that attended. More than 80% of those who contract covid do not know they have it or have mild symptoms, similar to the common cold.

I saw a friend's Facebook post today that told us the Sturgis motorcycle rally was a "superspreader event" because 100 new cases of the China Virus in 8 states could be attributed to it.
They estimated 500,000 attended so that is what, 0.0002% spread rate? I would almost be willing to bet there are more than 100 unwanted pregnancies attributed to a normal Sturgis rally.

I don't think we can say for sure that it was extremely likely no one who attended had it- or that the opposite is true. That's the problem. No matter where anyone stands on the issue (and I sure as heck don't care to argue anyone's postion on that, as it will gain nothing at all), we all seem to feel like we're not getting the truth. Political parties, the media and John Q Public just seem to go round and round in circles.
I'd prefer to have a place to go and get away from it all. Maybe a place where we could talk about sprint car racing, for example. We could remember that we all have a common bond that brings us to this message board, and not nitpick our differences.
The topic at hand: I think the biggest clue would be what did the WoO do differently in North Dakota than they did in Knoxville?
Will Kyle Larson be there? Current score is: Husets wall: 1, Kyle Larson: 0.
I know that the winner in a WoO race is usually someone with money who times well and wins from the front row. I'd prefer to see the winner be from Australia, or Pennsylvania, or someone named McCarl. How cool would that be to see Jacob Allen win his first WoO feature?

Feel like these are hail mary numbers - would love hard data to prove either. And that means not quoting the WHO Situation Report in March that says this - what we knew then and now are two drastically different things.
If we're to believe that there is a next to 0% chance that no one who attended had it August 3, then there very likely would have been spread.

It never should have been a political issue, just like masks. Unfortunately in this day and age, any type of criticism from one side to the other is labeled "political" even when it should not be.

If this is a stupid question don't hammer me too bad, is Larson planning on being at Husets?
Many Knoxville regulars making the 2 night show?
Any other 410 and 360 drivers you know of going next weekend?

I would assume Larson would be there to redeem what has been the only track in 2020 that has alluded him, but not sure.
Based on this weekend where lots of Knoxville regulars raced w/ the WoO, I would look for a lot of support for the Husets from the Knoxville regulars.

I wonder if Eztobeme could color code the posts in each thread so we can just skip over the ones that have zero to do with racing or specifically the topic in the thread name.
Please.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Love that track but been there more than two dozen times during the past 20 years, a long 250 mile drive, and the track is great until half way thru the 410 sprint car feature and the sky starts raining black dirt. And lots of it.

I saw something(media related so take it with a pound of salt) that the CDC said only 6% of deaths related to the china flu....oops covid....died solely from covid. So, if true, that would mean 94% had other underlying conditions that contributed to their deaths. So that would mean a little over 11,000 in the US died solely from covid. If true. And if that is true there are alot of other things that have taken that many lives in that amount of time. If true of course. The media did post it somewhere, and IMO the media lies more than politicians. Alot of the crap going on today the media feeds. Anyone else remember 1-2 hours of news a day? When they talked about things that happened rather than spout their opinions. Ahhhh good old days

I am not sure about the track restrictions as far as seating I do know the Outlaws went back to some of their restrictions to protect the drivers. Fans are not currently allowed in the pits after the races, most drivers who are not members and can not sell t-shirts at the speedway other than from their trailers in the pits are selling online. I know this doesn't help much but its the info I have.

From Aug 16 to Aug 29 552 cases were from state universities.
There are over 1000 students and staff in quarantine or isolation.
Not race goers, college kids that play beer pong and such.
If ya don't wanna support the race dont, but don't act like this is the reason for the spike in SD.
Argus Leader from Aug 31st is my data if you would like to check it.
