Congrats to Logan for making it into 2nd spot in the points. I'm guessing that is a first for him.

Jacob has been doing better imo. Somehow just needs to maintain speed for more laps of the features. Lots of good qualifying times and heat wins a few wins in the dashes. Hope I'm watching when he gets his first A Main win.

Where did the name Shark come from? What is the back story?

Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I think Logan was the point leader for a race or two early in the season after Lake Ozarks I think or somewhere around then.

Jacob is giong to get a win eventually. Has had opportunities but seems to need to get better in lap traffic. The last few times that I have seen him with the lead he has had a strong car capable of winning but once they enter lap traffic he is a sitting duck.

I know the Shark thing goes all the way back to the Bobby Allen days but not sure what the origin is.

No idea to the origination of the shark but Bobby had a shark mouth on his car hood back when he was racing.    Kind of hard to see in the picture but its there right behind the front wing and wraps around to the right side of the hood also.

I believe the shark came from Bobby's dad having the shark teeth on his military plane in WWII.  Go to open red podcast #35 which is about Logan and Jacob and you'll hear the story.  While your at it, listen to all of the open red podcasts.  I am currently on my second time through the entire series and have enjoyed every one of them.  Highly recommended to any sprint car fan and especially a fanatic!!

The Flying Tigers! P-40s. I seem to remember a John Wayne movie about them that I loved as a kid...

Logan will be a WoO champion I think.   Jacob is getting there too, and I also think he will win soon.   I really like this team and hope they continue to do well.

The Shark;

Known and loved as nose art in the armed forces;

And as revjimk noted: Flying Tigers were infamous for their shark nose art:

I'd liek to know when Bobby adopted the Shark nose art to his cars, likely pre-1990?

There is some information and pictures on their website.

I would copy and paste but the page is in ALL CAPS and it is too early in the morning for yelling.
