Has anybody ever found and/or have any info/results on Eldora's 500 lap sprint car races they did in the mid 1960's? I believe they did it 3 years with 3 relatively unknown winners, as to my knowledge. Would love to see more info on these races if anybody has any I'd appreciate it.

I am pretty sure that Earl wrote a little about it in his autobio, but it has been so long since I read it that I can't be positive.

Earl did write about it in his book. Will have to look when I get home today at the details. One of the things that I vaguely remember is that I believe he said someone used the same tire from the 500 race at another race

The Eldora 500 was run in 1965, 66, and 67. I was there for 66 and 67.
Orville Yeadon of Columbus, Indiana won in 65. Don Nordhorn driving for Dizz Wilson won in 66 and Larry Cannon won in 67.
An interesting aside is that Yeadon ran the same right rear tire , not brand or manufacturor - the same tire , in all three of the races.

If he had changed the tire maybe he would have won a second and third time.
Lol.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

I went in 1965 or 1966. After this many decades my recolllection of the event has weakened, but I do remember the following : they started the 500 lapper 3 abreast, like Indy. There was less than a full field. I think they started around 28 to 30 cars, although it was planned for 33. The crowd was not very good considering this was a major event for them , which is probably why it only lasted 3 years. I remember the race being pretty boring, and I left with around 350 laps completed. If I recall correctly, the track did hold up well.
