Once again I ask a simple question.
Why is this race included as a Month of Money race? It pays the regular World of Outlaw purse. From what I can see, every other race after the Doty race up through the Knoxville Nationals has bigger purses. I know what this race is about, by I just don't see why it is included in the Month of Money. There is no extra money in it.

Prestige. Calling it the 'month of money' is simply a marketing thing, like 'March Madness'.

Sounds like a 1st world problem. If this is a real problem, then I would say things are going well.

Cause chronologically it is scheduled within the month of money and it is inconvenient to put an asterix beside it and add a footnote.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Because there is no official "month of money." Like the other poster said, someone just came up with that and threw it out there... The Jackson Nats were June 29 and paid something like 40k to win. That's not in the same 31 day month of Knoxville. So there is no official month of money. But what there is, is that Brad Doty is an icon in sprint car racing, a totally class individual who busts his tail to make this race special for fans in the area. So I'm wishing he and his team nothing but the best tonight!

If it rains out today and with tomorrow's rain date now an Eldora Outlaw Show, will this be postponed or just plain cancelled. Surely they could get a later date this summer or fall, here's hopin' they do if they are forced to....

I know the teams want to get back home to the shop if at all possible to prepare for Knoxville but there seems to be no reason whatsoever that the rain date couldn’t be Monday or Tuesday July 29 or 30 on the way back from PA if they can’t get it in tonight.

BINGO! Teams will be headed from PA to Pevely, MO that week. No reason why they couldn't stop in Ohio for a Tuesday or Wednesday night show.

It appears there is a reason and its from Brad. He also said before this one that there is no rain date after today. Attica is efficent, and the Outlaws can run a fast program as well. No support division tonight so I think the window they have everything should be good. Drive home might not be that good though.

There are many reasons that the teams need to get back to their shops. 1. The biggest race of the year is scheduled right after Pevely, thus giving them no time to prepare for Knoxville. 2. Immediatly after Knoxville, the teams begin the trek towards the West Coast for another 5 week swing. At some point they need to be able to get back to their shops and re-load for the West Coast. 3. It sounds as if the Outlaw officials promised them this week off way back before the season started for the exact reason's mentioned above. Think about all of the rainouts that have already happened and how much the schedule has already been changed. These are humans we are talking about, not machines.
Now, I don't see why they couldn't possibly rescheule the Doty for sometime later this fall, but the week you are all talking about doesn't work for the traveling WoO teams.
So yes, there does seem to be many reason's it cannot be during the last week of July.

To a driver they will all say they want to WIN this race, sure the money is nice but it's the usual, it's winning the race for one of the most popular Drivers in the sport's history that is what is remembered....

Looking at the fall schedule, the Thursday before the eldora 4 crown race probably won’t work due to being in Jacksonville that Wednesday, would be quite the haul to go from Jacksonville to Attica the next night.
Friday Oct 11 would be a decent spot, right before Terre Haute, but they’ll be going against High school football (which is why they end their season Labor Day weekend).
That said I do think they’ll get it in tonight as long as they are prepared for a possible passing storm. It’s not gonna be a washout, it’s just so humid there will be storms popping up.

Captain Simpleton here, but does the Month of Money have to denote “each race...big purse,” or can more races in the month mean more money?
Today is Tuesday after all.
Now don’t go wrecking my view of the world by telling me there aren’t actually more races than average in the month.

They’re about to get hit with a line of heavy storms. If they persevere they might be able to get it in as there looks to be a decent window after

Month of money is a marketing term to describe the period between now and the Knoxville Nationals where about a third of the money (on the Outlaw tour at least) for the season is paid out.

Cancelled.
I feel for Brad. WoO was well within their right to do what they did, but man if it doesn't feel like they did an icon of the sport wrong with this. Really bummed that they went this route.

I wish he'd tell the Outlaws to pound sand after this screw job. Make the Doty an All Star-sanctioned race. It has been proven that you don't need to have the Outlaws to have a great event. An All Star sanction would be just as good of a show. Screw the Outlaws.

I agree!!!, welcome to corporate racing. They should be ashamed, but it's all about the money. Brad Doty had a very big part in the history of the WOO. He almost lost his life doing it. If the WOO was a stand up orginization it would find a make up date for Brad's race. I say if not , then maybe another track in the area could have a Brad Doty race this year , maybe Fremont, Waynesfield or Mansfield. It doesn't matter if its a WOO race , its about giving back to Brad, I bet the racers would show up. Sorry , but the sport owes it to Brad!
