To all the people that go to races to see crashes and those who run down to the fence to get a close-up view of a crash are sick-ass loosers and need to get a life. People like those i am speaking of need to stay away from the race track and more important stay away from ME !!!!!!!! The next time I hear a person in the stand cheering for a crash you will have to deal with me and believe me you don't want that. I hope in the future that race tracks across the country will kick out and ban all people that cheer for crashes and the gore hounds that run down to the fence to get a close up look at a crash

Nonwinglunatic,
I understand your feelings about those blood thirsty freaks who get excited when someone crashes because they think they are cool. My ex brother in law was one of those freaks. I am always one of those who gasps, cries and prays for the driver and his crew and family that he's ok.
However, you have to realize that some of those people who run to the fence to see the crash are the drivers loved ones. They want to be close to him or her as they can. I wouldn't go putting everyone down that runs to the fence to see the crash.
Just my two cents worth.
June

I agree with the original poster's sentiments - those of us who have been around the sport long enough know that even a minor "looking" crash can cause a serious injury. Cheering about a crash before even knowing the drivers condition is totally disrespectful to the driver, crew, families and fans involved.
That said, June makes a great point....

I agree with all 3 of you....As a Mom of a driver and car owner you always fear those wrecks and its not a matter of if you are involved but WHEN! Once the driver has emerged from the wrecked car and you know he is ok then you start assessing the damage, start the parts list and figure the time it takes to repair. I'd like to hand just one of those blood thirsty so called fans the bill and give them a real monetary shock! They just have no idea what it all costs money wise nor time wise.
June I totally agree with your statement, I am one who has been at that fence many times and I agree, family members do rush there when you aren't allowed on the track. I am in the stands when my son is on the track and that is the closest I can get to him when he wrecks.
Nonwinglunatic I can't tell you how many times I've expressed my sentiments to those sick loosers, maybe one of these days they will get a clue and cheer when appropriate.

I usually do open my mouth when one of those blood thirsty thrill seekers cheer and talk about "how cool" they (the crashes) are. Sometimes, I'm polite and just ask them to keep their sick opinions to themselves because most of us sitting in the stands has a friend or loved one on the track and we don't want to hear their crap. I have been known to go off on these people as well. I think it's sad to think that people go to the track to see drivers get hurt, and as much as I don't want to believe it, I now do. I think all of us "true" friends of racers need to gently and as politely as possible make the blood thirsty people realize exactly what they are doing. I have noticed in the past that a lot of those people are very intoxicated and I think that gives people a lot more courage than when they are sober. If it doesn't work by being nice, then maybe go the route of being a bit more rude but I wouldn't go to the severe extreme that Nonwing is talking about. If you do that at Perris you might end up in jail trying to do the right thing. Maybe Scott Delosio has a better way to handle these types of people. I've tried ignoring them and that seems to make them louder and more obnoxious. Some of them will calm down once they realize you are a family member or team member. Good luck.

I understand how much it bothers you all, and June can attest, We have been listening and dealing with these type of people all of our lives. Growing up around it and spending my life around it, you just have to understand that not everyone is there to see great racing, just to see the crashes.
