Saw on Deitrichs twitter that he is not going to Knoxville because its to expensive ,Do you think if he could make the show he would feel that way?
Guess that gives guys like McCarl a good reason for not coming to Pa. for the Grove Open.

Hell yes, if he felt like he was in contention, he'd be there
If I recall, he hasn't done well there in recent years

Thats how he is, if he can not win he won't go. Just like last year in Florida, did terrible the first couple nights and packed up and went home the Friday of the outlaw show. Only good at Lincoln.

Cripes! With Trey Starks there he probably wouldn't stand a chance anyway.
(Sorry man- the devil made me do it.)

Nothing wrong IMO of only running where you are fast. This racing deal is tough!

I'm not the biggest DD fan, but they can run wherever they want. I love how people love to spend teams money and then complain when the teams don't do what they want. McCarl is under no obligation to run in PA and no one is under an obligation to get to Knoxville.
If you don't lay down a good TT lap on your qualifying night at Knoxville you might as well pack it in unless you know you can pass a crapload of cars the rest of the night or figure it out by the Friday show. It is expensive to travel and these guys aren't getting rich doing this. DD ran at Knoxville more times than a lot of guys have and came within a spot or two of the A a few years ago in the B, but decided he isn't doing it this year, he cut back a bunch at the end of last year as well...who's to say that next year he doesn't miss it and change his mind. He seems to run better at smaller tracks anyway (although he has some wins at WG and PR) and seems to love the Ohio Speedweek.
Volusia is a whole other ballgame because if the air is right down there and you are tuned a bit wrong you can blow half a season's worth of motors in 2-3 nights...that's why the car count is always mediocre even if the racing is good.

I’m sure if someone paid his hauler diesel bill, the nightly engine cost (I’m guessing $1500/night), the tire bill etc he’d race wherever you wanted him to. Until that happens I’m guessing he’s gonna go where he thinks he can get his best roi.

It is expensive to compete in the Knoxville Nationals but isn't it also expensive to travel to FL and race? Either way it's their time and money, and their choice.

I don't like Dietrich either. That said, you're right. It's no one's business what anyone does with their team. He has his reasons and I respect that. With that said, there's a difference between the good ones and the great ones. A lot of it is talent but a lot of it is attitude. The great ones push themselves to persevere despite their shortcomings. Donny Schatz is great for a reason and a lot of it is his mental toughness and work ethic. He has the natural talent to be great but if he just wants to be a good local racer, that's totally his call. Fred Rahmer once said: "Nobody ever got better by staying home".

"Only good at Lincoln" LOL. BS.
Criticizing someone for running their team in a way that makes financial sense to them. Right ...
Hope DD has a great season.

Stupid, lol. I guess all his wins at Williams Grove and Port don't count. Yep, only good at Lincoln, lol. Dumbass comment.

Not a big fan of his whining at times, but as far as him deciding not to go to knoxville or south to florida. You can't find fault in that. A week in knoxville or a week in Florida is costing a team I feel 25k and that's with no major issues.

There is a whole building at Knoxville full of great drivers, most of which got in there because of effort, not money.

And Baps, Selinsgrove, Grandview, Roaring Knob, the ASCoC race he won in New York and probably something else I forgot. If someone wants to criticize DD, there's plenty of subject matter without making things up. You can't knock his accomplishments. He's one of the best on the track.

Get out your wallet and send some money his way, I'm sure he will race wherever you want him to if it is on your dime. As far as only being good at Lincoln, plenty of other people in this post have already pointed out how absolutely incorrect that comment is.

He had a decent year making the A main one year but he didn’t seem to be building from it. Seems like he was too slow in time trials and needed to spend a couple of weeks out there like Hodnett did to get the car right.
i love Knoxville and want as many cars to come as possible, so the news of a top Pa team skipping the race is not good to me.

Is Mansfield running that weekend this year?
I never liked the drive from PA thru all the boring flat land, maybe he is becoming more aware of the cost of running the operation?
Lincoln 1845 ft/.35 mile T1=118MPH
Eldora 2287 ft/.43mile T3=135MPH
Port 2716 ft/.51 mile T3=TBD
Grove 2792 ft/.53 mile T3=135MPH
Selinsgrove 2847 ft/.54 mile T1=136MPH

weather." Van May

They cut their loses in FL due to serious damage to multiple engines. Why let facts get in the way of personal narratives.

I wasnt critasizing him or saying hes not good enough its just Disapointing as a Pa. faw when I go to Knoxville I like to see the Pa. cars compete and do well right now it looks like Wolfe and Ryan Smith may be about the only Pa. cars going.
I would lo0ve to see Dewease,Rahmer ,Monteith and Deitrich all go and as many Mid West guys as possible come East for the big races.
