I just picked up a ride in a sprint for 08, and i was curious if anyone was running fire suppression systems. Having been burned in the past, and working on aircraft for the USAF, i have a slight problem with being burned again. I started researching them about a month ago, then was horiffed to hear about a racer in Abliene TX, last weekend. Unfortuintly, Ryan Bard, ( a IMCA sportmod driver) was killed when his car fliped, and then erupted in flames. His parents, and entire family watched as Ryan burned to death. So anyone have any advice or experiance with suppression kits? Thanks Mike.

Pegasus Auto Racing looks like they sell most available halon and foam systems. Would probably be a good place to start the investigation process. Firecharger looks like its the cheapest at $199. Let us know what you find out. Click here, for good article on fire suppression.

So your pretty cramped in a sprint, enclosed front, back and right side, with a wing on top. I keep seeing adds for Halon fire systems. Ive been seeing companys that advertise halon systems, used by airliners and military. We use halon 1211 in our fire bottles on the jets, however in the event of a fire, aircrews don oxagen masks. Halon suppresses fire by removing the oxagen. Small confined area, fire removing some oxegen, Halon removing the rest, doesnt seem like a great idea. I much rather suffecate then burn, but im assuming since people run them a driver would be fine with
a nozzle above his head. Is this correct?

Rule of Thumb on Mounting the Bottle, to withstand forces if such the front end and tail tank tore off, to withstand those forces for Your, Other Drivers and Fans Safety. Fire Suppresion Nozzles on base of intake, over The Driver, and One covering Fuel Cell Cap. Ensuring a Ball valve at The filler Tank, a Ball covers the opening, if upside down. Good Luck in 08, keep Us informed where You race, so we can follow.
