Not sure what Tony meant when he said they dumped to much water on the track seemed pretty racey for Larson Hodnett passed alot of cars in both races. Strawser I quess another driver prefers the Slip and Slide tracks.

I thought the track was great. Evidently he missed the fact that Larson started the 2nd feature 21st and finished 6th. I don't understand why time and again, you see drivers blaming the track for the fact that they weren't very good on that particular night.

Well said. He doesn't seem to be very good any night these days. Might be time to hang the helmet up and just keep the promoter hat on. He's had a helluva career that most drivers could never equate to being a pimple on his ass, so there would certainly be no shame in it.
Attempting to be a voice of reason in a world full of
irrationality.

I think it's pretty obvious that Larson goes way beyond being just a talented sprint car driver, so no matter what he does on any kind of track should come as a surprise. But too, not sure what Stewart was refering to, looked to me like quite a few drivers improved their positions 4-5 spots during the race. That's indicitive of some good racing. Especially when there is an invert like that, makes for moving forward more crowded than in a heads up race. Similar to running through lapped trafic, if you know what I mean.

But in all fairness, his career as a driver was never built on winged sprint car racing.

Was he breathing hard when he said it? Fast with a cushion is more demanding physically. As someone the same age as Tony, there are nights I just wish the water truck would break down, so my ability to pedal the corners would outweight the 140 kids ability to ram the frame rails through the track surface.

Yes, and an old napcar driver that is used to racing on asphalt. Enough said........
From what I understand from some people the track was really good all night. I heard Larson was the show in the second feature.
Let's go Sprint Car Racing!
Knoxville - Best Track In the USA!
Eldora - 2nd Best Track in the USA!

Thot the car teams were supposed to look at the track and set the car up to be fast not the track crew look at who registered and build the track to suit the drivers. Blame who you want but every car had the same track and the competition is between cars not between car and track or car and water truck...
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Doesn't seem to be good any night? He finished p2 in one of the features. He's won a couple of 360 races this year and has been getting faster with the 410 every week. Time to hang up the helmet? C'mon dude.

Truer words have never been spoken. In my opinion, that's 90% of the problem here in Central PA. Prep the damn track and unless there's any obvious safety issues etc. leave it alone and let the teams figure out what they need to do to be fast. That's how it used to be and that's the way it should be. A lot of these guys nowadays think that a track surface should be made to order like Subway. The truly great ones like Schatz, Larson, Hodnett etc. do what they need to do on any given night to be fast whether the track is heavy, slick or somewhere in between. I'm sure they have their preferences just like everyone else but you don't hear them bitching. They show up and go to work. Can't tell you how many times I've heard Hodnett say in victory lane that the track was the same for everybody.
