Just a hypothetical chatter topic here but if you recieved a huge inheritance conditional on giving $100,000 to a sprint car team who would you invest it in and what would you desire to see that specific team learn, gain or develop etc etc from your investment?
Before the Nationals I would have given it to Brent Marks with the hope of him being able to use it somehow to ensure he could regularily start in the top 8 of an A main. He just has too much work to do in too few laps starting back as far as he does.
Assumming the Sharks success was due to an all or nothing engine program at Kville, today I may go buy those boys a couple engines to see if they could at least follow Donny to the podium. Well for 6 races anyway...
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

Probably Shark Racing. They are really gaining momentum. At least one of them (and sometimes both) seem to be in the fight at every race the last month or so. I don't think an extra $100,000 in the bank could hurt anything.
That said, with a wife and 3 kids, college to help with, and retirement planning, I might have a tough time getting rid of $100,000.
Like the hypothetical though!!!

I'd go with Matt Juhl. Matt comes from a family owned sprint car team. I know the family and they are good people. Matt had a good career in the 360's and is now finding his way the last couple years in the 410's. The budget of their team is no where near what many of his peers are running, so some bucks would probably go along way in helping out. Matt did well for himself at the Nationals and got in to the A Main on Saturday night with a fourth place finish in the Hard Knox A Main on Friday night. I'm pretty confident that he will continue to improve and gather more and more fans over the next several years.

I would use it to help as many racers as possible, especially the lower budget teams. I’d make sure drivers at my local track had the most up to date safety equipment. Buy new belts, seats, new driving suits and helmets for anyone that needed it. I would also hand out gift cards for a place like Casey’s to help them pay for fuel. Maybe even sponsor a hard luck award at each weekly show. I’d probably enjoy that more than helping someone go faster. But like everyone else involved in racing I’d probably decide to spend another $100,000 on some motors too!
Thanks for posing the question - it’s fun to think about!

2 years ago it would have been Shark racing for sure, but now I’d do what was suggested above and help multiple teams primarily in Central PA. Car counts there are dangerously low now.

I always joked that if I won the Powerball, I would start a 410 team and put JJ Grasso in a top notch ride. I think we could dominate central Pennsylvania

For me I’d invest in Skylar Prochaska, hasn’t raced much in a 410 this season. Finished 2nd to last on qualifying night. Transferred from C main to the B main. And by the end of the B main was running laps faster then the Top 5.

+1. Definatley. I got my son and nephew a Matt Juhl tshirt for Saturday (didnt make it to his trailer early enough any other day) and had them wear it walking around all Saturday afternoon. I bet at least 3 different people asked where I got it. People like an underdog story. Super nice kid who has been getting better and faster every year down there.

I'd give it to Lane Racing and Cap Henry. They have done a lot with very little, I think that investment could put them onto ASCoC and probably be pretty formidable in it. Or turn them into a dominant regional team.

A minute ago I would have said Shark, until I read your post. Good point about locals. But then I re-read original post. He said "a" racing team, not several...
So now i'm stuck... leaning toward Shark again, but trying to think of a local team... all the locals I pay attention to are the good ones & they don't need much help.... Rahmers maybe????

Why would your team dominate when he hasn't dominated with anyone else?

Jared Esh. Two really good motors will be enough to put this team over the top as far as a local PA team.

I'd get Sides a treadmill and a good crew member and maybe a crew chief and he might win some races. He seems unfit and understaffed.......

I'd take a page from the JW Hunt playbook. Lots of cars, not a ton of fanfare, and give it away however the day moved me. Hard charger, hard luck, quick time etc.

Bill Balog. Solid driver that I think could be competitive on the WoO tour with the right funding. Love to see a WI guy "make it" big in this sport!

I'd help everyone out a little bit, and really piss my wife off at the same time. I'd buy an ass load of t shirts. Help everyone out a tiny bit with shirt sales, and have a bad ass new wardrobe.

Why would your team dominate when he hasn't dominated with anyone else?

He did prett well in URC with good equipment. Besides, it’s my fantasy & I will dominate if I want too

Bing!
I'd also wander around and hand out random $100 bills.
