Thanks

The fastest 8 cars that transferred through their heat (invert was 4 in the heats, top 3 transferred) were locked into the pole shootout. It starts off with #8 vs. #7 (again, of the fastest 8 cars that transferred through their heat) ... winner of that goes on to race #6 (loser starts 8th in the feature) ... winner of that goes on to race #5 (loser starts 7th in the feature) ... winner of that goes on to race #4 (loser starts 6th in the feature) ... etc, etc. It goes all the way to the fastest car that qualified through his heat (#1, which was Josh Baughman last night). The winner of the last one (the survivor, which Brad Sweet was last night vs. #1) gets the pole... loser gets outside front row. The advantage of being one of the fastest cars to qualify through your heat is that at worst, you're starting 2nd in the feature, etc. Hopefully that helps?

So 2 cars for 2 laps. Sounds a lot more exciting than time trials. Could be exciting if there are some leader changes theu the 2 lap races but would be awfully boring if the leader just took off.
Thank you for the details.
Anyone have a vdeo of this portion?

Yes... match races (2 cars, 2 laps) ... winner stays on the track and advances against the next car. In most of them, one of the cars takes off and it's anti-climactic.. but there is usually at least one of them where there is some back & forth and it's exciting.

Its sounds good in theory, but usually what Chilly says is the case: " In most of them, one of the cars takes off and it's anti-climactic"
I've seen some real good match races with wingless cars at Kokomo, tho.....
