I don't post much just interested in how Thone and Sammy got together. Also would like to know what they think of Sammy after 4 races.

My guess is they were looking for a driver and Sammy was looking for a 410 ride for Knoxville and he got the call. As far as the 2nd question I would assume they’re pretty happy since they have him in the seat for the 410 nationals.

I would say. The team is very happy with sammy in the car. Only four nights in the car and he was super fast all weekend and gets a win. Seems to me the team is clicking very well and are excited.

I think that team had/has great equipment, but they didnt have a "guy" who had the ability to actually set it up. Sammy was/is that guy...and the progession from Angell Park to 34 Raceway in 4 nights shows exactly how good their stuff is, and how good Sammy is (hashtag still winning)! Excited to see what comes next.

Sammy and Wolfie are the two best driver/mechanics ever to be in a Sprint car. That leaves Sammy as the only person that can bring those qualities to a team.
Brandon has very good equipment, now he's got Sammy too. Definitely could make the Nationals very interesting, actually already has created a hell of a story line.
If by chance Sammy does win the whole deal. I'll guarantee the place would go insane.

As much as I used to be a huge Wolfgang guy. Remember, he took that extra lap when everyone else went into the pits after his hot lap session was yellow flagged. Sammy is by far the better one man show. Wolf had Davey brown sr all the years with weikert plus many other top of the line crew chiefs.

No doubt Sammy and Doug were the very best with a sprint car when it came to what they could do from the ground up to the driving. I dont think Sammy ever designed, bent and welded his own frames, but he may have. As for Davey Brown Sr (3 1/2 years or so), I think Doug probably did as much or more for him than vise versa. But I don't think that is unique, when it comes to over achieving at the wheel of a sprint car. One helps make the other, but the driver is still the key. When you look at the list of Sammy's crew chiefs, that list stacks up pretty good, too. And every crew chief either ever had, had his best year or years when crewing for either of them.....except for one of course. Gary "Duece" Turrill did wrench for Sammy in the Old Mil #1 and for Doug in the dp Motorsports 8D. I doubt any driver took as many different cars to the winners circle as Wolfgang. And many of those cars were quite frankly, underfunded and unexpected to be winners. I would bet next in line with the most different winners would be Sammy, although he was never really underfunded. I'm happy that I was able to witness both of their careers.

Neither Wolfgang nor Davey Brown owe their success to the other one. Wolofgang was a huge winner before and after Davey Brown. But I really don't get your line about "Doug probably did as much for him than vice sersa."
Brown wrenched cars have won a race every season since 1954. I can't think of anyone in racing even remotely close to a 65-year streak like that. Brown was winning races for 30 years before Woldgang and now 30 years after Wolfgang.

I wasn't knocking Brown at all! You tell me......when did Davey have better seasons than with Wolfgang? Whereas Doug had seasons just as good and maybe even one better than he had in the Weikert car with Davey. That's all I was saying. I was responding to a post that gave Davey the credit for Wolfgang's success in the Weikert car. As I stated, it takes both, it's a shared success but I feel it was Wolfgang that took that team over the top. As for crew chiefs, if there was one better it had to be Karl. Ricky Warner is right there, also.

Karl was an innovator, creator, Mastermind of so much that evolved in the Sprint car world. He was so much more than a crew chief.

Karl himself said in open wheel magazine that if every driver had to wrench on there own car and then race that Sammy would have hardly ever lost a race..

^so true. And at least to me is he did it with his own car Whereas the others have aligned themselves with well funded high profile teams.

Karl was one of the first to get a good chunk of change in sponsorship money and contingencies. He wasn't working on a shoe string budget for too terribly long anfter he and Steve got together.

If Karl and Sammy would have teamed up and been able to work together it would have been real interesting. Ifs and buts....
