No. (The "Penalty" is the loss of Platinum membership and all tow money and point fund money.)

Johnny,
When you say no, you mean if they go without filing a written request with the WRG? I understand (and fully support) the WRG protecting the drivers in their sanctioning body. Can the still request permission to run a non-WOO event?
The hypothetical situation EZ2BME brings up is a good question, and its worth pondering. In this case, a $100,000 to win race is a HUGE deal. The crowd is anticipating a win by a non-WOO driver. Why wouldn't the WRG like the publicity of one of their drivers riding into town, and leaving town with the purse.........................just like the old days? And $100,000 could make a driver's season as well.
This would be one hypothetical situation where the WRG would be best to swallow their pride.

I don’t believe there is any chance that WRG allows drives to run this race because Sommer didn’t want to pay a sanctioning fee to have the drivers. They’re protecting there brand, but it doesn’t mean I think it’s right.

I understand, and support, their decision to protect their brand. They did so by scheduling another event far away. However, in this hypothetical situation, if a two-day cancellation were determined early, wouldn't it be easy for the WRG to stick it to them by coming in to town and having a great chance to steal the money?

I've never seen "written permission" granted to more than one or two cars at a time. And would VERY seriously doubt it would be granted in this hypothetical situation.
