All Stars and Outlaws do not except for Charlotte and Volusia (that I know about).
USAC Sprint car series bring a flagman and an assistant flag-woman to their events.

The DIRT Modifieds use a traveling flagman. Words can not describe the show this guy puts on, he thinks he is the show. I will say one thing he a lot of energy, but to me his antics get old real fast. One of the things he does and I was stunned the first time I saw it. He shows the leader of the race how far of a gap to second place there is and he does this by holding the flags apart. In my opinion the flag man has no business "spotting" for the leader. Like I said this guy is something and to me not in a good way.

Really they dont have the same fuy every weekend. I thought they had their main guy and the local man was the helper.
There was an Open Red a few months back with the audio of the flagman calling the order etc on restarts. I thought he was a WoO official. Even thought the hosts refered to him as the WoO flagman.
Even though I may not know you, I
care what most of you think!

That audio was of World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series Competition Director Mike Hess. Hess is positioned in the scoring tower at all events. All calls (including cautions) are made from the tower. Starts are called by a combinaton of the Competition Director and an official on the track in turn 4.

I believe so, as I am positive it is the same Mike Hess that competes in the Chili Bowl every year. It is nice to see someone who has actually raced/currently races play that role.

Agree on the DIRT Modified flagman. I have observed his "showmanship histrionics" where he is so focused on himself that he has given the wrong driver the move over flag, grabed the white flag instead of the yellow. One year during Super Dirt Week event at Rolling Wheels with URC / ESS show along with some modified class, they brought out the sprints put heat in their motors and help run-in the track after a heavy rain and he threw the green flag. Sprints were on the track without their wings to keep the slop of the wings, I heard several drivers did not have their arm restraints on because the were told it was for heat and help pack the track. There were so many cars on the track and the bottom was not run in yet enough for cars to exit the track in a safe manner. I know the people in New York think he is great, but like the previous poster, he is not what I like in a flagman. Trouble as much as I don't like what he does, he does draw your eyes to him!

All Stars use tracks Official Starter "Flagman" .
And a comment on Mr Farney, The Dirt Car Official Starter. I know some like him, some dislike him. Even I have made mistakes . We are all human. I have been to plenty of tracks and seen just about every Flagman make a mistake. Like just about anything nowdays, people are only quick to point out your flaws. I always say, people pay money to be entertained. If it's making fun of the monkey in the flagstand, so be it. Enjoy your night regardless.
Jeremy "semi-retired" Official Starter :-)
