Press Release

Santa Maria, CA - October 13, 2007...Century 21 Hometown Realty Bandit/VRA Grand Slam Sprint Cars and VRA Dwarf Cars closed out the racing season Saturday night at Santa Maria Speedway, during the running of the 22nd Annual Bud Stanfield Memorial.

*Visalia's Jesse Mack clinched the local Bandit Sprint Car championship and moved into second place in Grand Slam points with his fourth place finish in the "A" main event. Atascadero's Greg Porte won the event, his second of the season, in convincing style, leading all 30 laps. Greg Brag, of Visalia, finished a strong second, but could not overtake the flying Porte. Justyne Hamblin, a feisty 17 year-old lady from Hanford, ran an impressive third. Fifth went to Santa Clarita's Clark Templeman III. Josh Davis, of Atascadero, captured the 12-lap "B" main event and Mack, Brag, Stockton's Jonathan Henry and Fresno's Davey Knott won the 10-lap heat races. Fast time of 13.746 seconds was set by Josh Ford of Camarillo. The Grand Slam title will be decided in two weeks at Ventura Raceway.

*Jeff Shelton took the measure of his competitors in the VRA Pro Dwarf Car 20-lap feature event. Shelton outran point leader Jim Scribellito, with Brent Stevens third, Curt Cook fourth and Greg Goodwin fifth. Scribellito and Cory Pollock won 7-lap heat races. *The Senior VRA Dwarf Car 20 lapper was won handily by point leader Ed Niedzwiecki. He was followed to the checkers by Gary Conditt, Dave Hume, Kevin Alverson and Tom Bellinger. Seven-lap heat race wins went to Alverson and Hume.

*Racing is scheduled to resume at Santa Maria Speedway in April 2008.
