Edwards takes Outlaw Kart Main – Sloan takes Open Mowers

119 entries, jammed the pits, getting indoors out of the 20 degree weather, for round number nine of the Quads, Karts and Hot Rod Mowers of the 14 race 5th Annual AMP Outlaw Winter Nationals Indoor Short Track Race Series.

Circle C Plumbing’s Ryan Early took the win in the Open Pro Quads making it his 5th for the series, riding his Yamaha Banshee powered four wheeler. Defending champ Gary Rhodes finished a close second with Nico and Jakus Lee filling out the podium finish spots on their Suzuki four stroke 450s. The win gives Early a 33 point lead over Rhodes heading into the 10th round of the 14 race series.

The hotly contested Quad Open A Feature event kept the loud crowd alive once again. This round Billy McKinney picked up is second win of the series. Daniel McQuire’s second place finish move him two points ahead of the points leader Donnie Foster, McQuire now has 117 points to Fosters 115 with Click at 108 points heading into round 10. McQuire went on to take the gold in the 250 A class making it five wins in a row for that division

In the Blaster division Cody Yelton’s win inched his points lead to 8 points over Nathan Wells. dy Yelton. Even Edgender sits in third place at 28 points behind the leader. Edgender took the win in the 85a class over Cody Yelton and Joe Cook from Tulsa. Logan Yelton and defending champ Kyle Roberts finished one and twon in the 85b Quad class. Blake Prescott found the quick way around the tacky clay surface at the OK Corral Indoor Arena Saturday defeating points leader Andrea Murphey in the BB Quad division, bringing her winning streak to an end after taking 5 in a row.

Ryan "Ry" Neighbors won the B Kart class. Kinser Edwards and John Williams II finished in that order in the Jr 2 class. Edwards continued to take the gold in the RWYB Trophy class. Props go out to Ry's dad, Larry Neighbors, for donating the use of a giant Box Fan to help with ventilation for the building during the race series season.

Hot Rod Mowers put on another big show for the fans and a past winner. Rick Sloan got his second win of the series with points leader Tony Stanton in second. The championship points chase is close in this division with Sloan 6 points behind Stanton and Steven Hall just 9 points out. When the checkered came out in the single class, it was Jerry Schawartz in the lead taking his third win of the series.

Sowders tastes second victory in the new year

119 entries jammed into the pits, with 20-degree weather outdoors, for round nine of the 14 race 5th Annual AMP Outlaw Winter Nationals Short Track Indoor Points Series. Past two-time Open Pro Singles Champ of the Series Bret Sowders scored his second first victory of the series defeating Justin Thurman and Casey Hackfeld in the process. Sowders took over the points lead from Thurman with this victory. Thurman sits only 7 points behind Sowders heading into round #10.

A super-moist racetrack evolved from lower than normal temps which were sub freezing in the 20’s. Sowders shared the podium with Justin Thurman who took the win in the 250 Pro class.

The 12" Xtreme Lites DFC saw dual-discipline racer Conner Blevins out of Noble, Oklahoma taking home the winner take all purse for the Dash. Blevins went on to win the 12” Xtreme Pit Bike class, but fell short loosing to Bret Sowders in the hotly contested 10–Inch division. Jerry Buie won the Classic Mad Dog battle that included a mix bag of bikes including two and four stroke machines in a Mad Dog Shoot Out..

The 50/50 Jackpot Ticket Winner was John Calvert. His rider Justhin Thurmand pulled the lucky ticket following his win in the Open Pro Singles DFC race.

It was Frank Bardaro and Fred Mears in the Vintage class. . Peyton Simpson showed the Open A class the quick way round the Indoor with Doing double duty, Dallas Tully settlied for second in the motorcycle division. Simpson took the win in the 125/250 class, with his brother Wesley taking the win in the 85 division. .

Edmond based Wesley Collins was defeated by Wesley Simpson in the 65 class. Collins repeated his winning streak and taking home first place trophies in the PW A and B class for the night.

Tony Opichka led new-comer Derrick Gray to the finish line taking the final checks and the win in the PW BB. Two cherished “My First Race” No More Tears trophies were awarded. The trophies are named after Katie Medrano and are awarded to youth class racers who enter their first race in their career at the AMP OWN series.

Thurman, Jones, Prescott score wins at Harrah

Television personality "Tripod" aka Mike Cook, featured on two episodes of Jesse Jame’s popular program Monster Garage raced in the Lites Division Saturday. 129 entries jammed into the OK Corral pit area, with mild weather outdoors, for round ten of the 14 race 5^th Annual AMP Outlaw Winter Nationals Short Track Indoor Points Series. Past two-time Open Pro Singles Champ of the Series Oklahoma’s Bret Sowders fell short of scoring his third consecutive victory as Justin Thurman took the checks in the multi-red-flag Open Pro A Main with Oklahoma rider Brian Collins rounding out the podium. Thurman leads Sowders by 13 points heading into round #11.

A pair of racers from Kansas Aaron Linfors and Kent Briggs, were in competition in two classes, and finished second and third place to winner Justin Thurman during the 250 Pro Motorcycle contest. Linfors picked up fourth spot in the Open Pro Singles battle. The AMP 12" main saw Corley Jones aboard his Shawnee Honda sponsored entry defeat a close field of eight riders. Chance Osburn took second spot with Bret Sowders in third. Dual-discipline road-race and dirt track racer Conner Blevins continues to lead the points in this division with a 24 point lead over Osburn. Conner Blevins battled Chance Osburn for the win in the Classic Mad Dog battle that included class points leader Patrick Prescott, in a full blown Mad Dog Shoot Out.

The 50/50 7-UP DFC Jackpot Ticket Winner was Shelby Edgender. Justhin Thurman pulled the lucky ticket following his win in the Open Pro Singles DFC race. It was Brian Collins aboard Frank Bardaro’s Triumph and Fred Mears taking wins in the two Vintage classes. Points leader Payton Simpson showed both the 85A and 125/250A-class the quick way round the Indoor with multiple wins. Dallas Tully scored his first win in the Open A class, followed by second place finisher James Breeding who ran his first Indoor Short track aboard an Adams’s Racing Stable machine. Dylan Simpson leads Matt Pagel by 2 points in this class. Points leader Wesley Collins was defeated by Noah Prescott in the 50A class. Prescott repeated his winning streak taking home first place trophies in the PW A and B class for the night. Collins took the win in the 65 A Divison. Tony Opichka led new-comer Trenton Smith to the finish line taking the final checks and the win in the PW BB.

Three cherished "My First Race" No More Tears trophies were awarded. The trophies are named after Katie Medrano and are awarded to youth class racers who enter their first race in their career at the AMP OWN series.

Nico Lee Scores First Win In Open Pro Quad

McKinney wins Open Pro Quad Fast Break Phillips 66 DFC


92 entries poured into the OK Corral pit area, fending off the harsh rainy-icy cold weather outdoors, for round eleven of the Quads, Karts and Hot Rod Mowers 14 race 5th Annual AMP Outlaw Winter Nationals Short Track Indoor Points Series. The Double-Barrel and Pot Belly stoves were burning at full capicity helping to warm the building, but they were no match to the heat created by the racing-action that was about to unfold on the racing surface atop the Indoor clay track at the historic OK Corral Indoor Arena.

Nico Lee from Colgate, Oklahoma riding a bright yellow Suzuki 450 scored his first win in the Open Pro Quad class Saturday in Harrah, Oklahoma. Lee placed a respective third for three races leading in to this round. Scoring his first A main win Lee led the pack of the “magnificent seven” with his team-mate and brother Jakus Lee, also Suzuki mounted, scoring second place. Rounding out the podium finish in third place was defending AMP 2007 Champion Gary Rhodes. Nico Lee made it a double by winning the 250 Pro Quad class. Points leader Early finishing a trailing fourth place. Defending Open Pro Quad Champ Oklahoma’s Gary Rhodes continued to whittle away his points deficit to Ryan Early. Early leads the division by a shrinking 27-point-gap heading into round #12.

Billy McKinney took the win in the Phillips 66 Fast Break DFC for the Open Pro Quads seeing his first big cash win of the series. Early, riding his Circle C Plumbing Yamaha Banshee could not catch the four-stroke of McKinneys on the semi-tacky track.

The action packed Quad Open A Feature warmed up the big historic barn. This round points-leader Daniel McQuire bested Dylan Lawson and Dalton Click in that order. This round saw McQuire riding his N-Motion, Seahorn Yamaha of Shawnee taking his fourth win of the series. Last round Daniel McQuire’s second place finish move him two points ahead of then points leader Donnie Foster, McQuire now has a 19 point lead. McQuire’s 157 points to Foster’s 138 and Dalton Click closing the gap in third to a close 137 points trailing Foster by only 1 point heading into round 12. Click continued his performance taking the gold in the 250 A class making it two wins in a row.

In the Blaster division it was another new winner. Michael Bland out distanced points-leader Cody Yelton and Even Edgender. Even Edgender moved past Nathan Wells to take over second place in points. Yelton leads with 175 points.

The revived 90 class grew with leaps and bounds as five riders checked in at registration. When the green light flashed it was Cody Yelton with the hole shot, he led it to the checkers. Two new riders to the series Dakota Powell, and Kevin Merriman competed in this growing class.

Edgender and Yelton swapped places as Edgender took the win in the 85a classr. New-comer Austin McKay took the 85b Quad class win. Blake Prescott made it three-in-a-row winning atop the clay surface at the OK Corral Indoor Arena Saturday defeating points leader Andrea Murphey Cole Hocker in the BB Quad division Feature.

Bret the Jet Wilson took the Feature win over Quade Johnson in the Jr 1 class. Kinzer Edwards continued to take the gold in the Jr 2 class, with is team-mate and brother taking the win in the RWYB Trophy class.

Hot Rod Mowers Twins are coming down to the final rounds and the points are super close. Points leader Stanton with 139 points has a 7 points lead over Rick Sloan in second, and 18 points back is Stephan Hall.

Rick Sloan took the win with Tony Stanton picking up second and Stephen Hall placing third. The championship points chase is close in this division with Sloan movin up to 7 points behind Stanton. When the checkered came out in the single class, it was Chirs Deaver in the lead taking his second win of the series.
