MSCS ACTION MOVES TO LINCOLN PARK & THEN TRI-STATE

Haubstadt, IN - June 28, 2017 -  The Hoosier Tire Midwest Sprint Car
Series is poised  for two big nights of pre-holiday racing activity
before joining everyone in celebrating the Fourth of July.  Non-wing
sprint car owners and drivers have the second opportunity this season
to race with MSCS at two different tracks on successive nights.  The
Saturday and Sunday night events are at Lincoln Park Speedway and
Tri-State Speedway.  The two Indiana tracks are separated by a mere
two hour drive.  That close proximity should permit a lot of sprint
car fans to attend and support both races.  It will also be
interesting to see how many race teams make both stops.
Saturday night the MSCS Sprints will unload to race at Lincoln Park
Speedway in Putnamville, IN.  The racing program at Lincoln Park
Speedway is the third annual event named in honor of Bill Gardner who
was the founder of the Indiana Open Wheel website which has become a
popular forum.  The “Bill Gardner Sprintacular” is a two day show
with the USAC Sprints racing on Friday night and the MSCS Sprints
closing out the event by racing on Saturday night July 1st.  Both
races pay well!  The MSCS feature on Saturday pays $3,000 to win!
Then Sunday night the MSCS Sprints will appear at the Tri-State
Speedway in Haubstadt, IN.  This is year number five for the “Sprint
Car Stampede.”  The track will also be taking this opportunity to
celebrate its 60th year of continuous operation.  The achievement is
remarkable in that for generations the Helfrich family has nurtured
and watched over the operation of this facility.  The July 2nd
program will be extra special.  During the evening the more
traditional MSCS sprints will share the oval with the high flying
MOWA Winged Sprint Cars and the UMP Open Wheel Modifieds.  The MSCS
feature Sunday pays $2,500 to win!  The program will also have an
added nostalgic touch featuring a Blast from the Past..
MSCS has already completed the first half of the 2017 season.  There
are eight races left on the schedule.  Drivers joining or returning
to race with the series still have ample time to climb up through the
standings.  The purchase of a MSCS driver license is not required.
Drivers are also welcome to compete using a lower priced temporary
permit.
After the MSCS appearance at the Brownstown Speedway the MSCS Points
Standings tightened.  Carson Short continues to lead the standings
but Brady Short, using a win at Brownstown, has closed to within 7
points.  Brandon Morin is currently in third.  Morin , a former MSCS
Rookie of the Year, led the points at midseason last year before
finishing out the season in third.  He currently finds himself
closely pursued by Brandon Mattox, Max McGhee, Kyle Cummins, and
Dakota Jackson.  One race could completely redistribute the order for
these 5 drivers.  Points earned over two races could really be a
factor.
Race drivers focus on one event at a time.  Championships are won one
race at a time!  Thomas Meseraull won the “Bill Gardner Sprintacular”
last season.  Chase Stockon won the “Sprint Stampede” when last held
in 2015.  Stockon heads the MSCS winner’s list this season with two.
Both of those wins were at Tri-State Speedway.
Racing gets underway at 7 P.M. Eastern Daylight Time Saturday at
Putnamville.  Racing Sunday at Tri-State Speedway begins at 7:30
Central Daylight Time.  Group qualifying is set for an hour earlier
each night.
