CRA HEADS FOR LAS VEGAS OCTOBER 27; WEIR, SPENCER TOPS AT VENTURA & PERRIS
October 7, 2007 --- The battle for the 2007 Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car championship has tightened as a result of weekend races and Tony Jones’ point lead over runner-up Mike Spencer has slipped to just 53 points going into an October 27 race at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway Dirt Track in Nevada.
Spencer, of Temecula, Calif. closed the gap with a third place at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway Saturday and a victory at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway Sunday.
Scotty Weir of Marion, Ind. won Saturday night’s 30-lapper at Ventura in his ITI Performance/HK Construction Bullet/Downing. He passed Spencer on lap 27 and led the final four laps to beat Rip Williams, Spencer, Troy Rutherford and Damion Gardner. Gardner led the first 15 laps and Spencer the next 11 before Weir went to the front.
Spencer passed Danny Sheridan on lap 11 of Sunday’s Southern California Fair race at Perris and led the last 20 laps in his Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply/Arizona Race Mart Maxim/Shaver. Fast qualifier Cory Kruseman finished second ahead of Rickie Gaunt, Sheridan and Williams. Gardner led the first lap, Spencer led the next six, then Sheridan led for three before Spencer returned to the lead.
Blake Miller of Yorba Linda, Calif. won Saturday’s 15-lap “Wagsdash” special event for ”low-buck” racers at Ventura.

According to Chris Blair, LVMS Vice President of Racing Operations, there is "No muffler rule. The louder the better."
Also, Push Trucks are needed for the event. Interested parties should call 702.632.8213.

SPENCER TAKES AIM AT JONES’ CRA LEAD AT LAS VEGAS; NATIONAL DRIVERS EXPECTED TO SPICE FIELD
OCTOBER 22, 2007 --- Mike Spencer of Temecula, Calif. has sliced Tony Jones’ Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Car point lead to 53 points going into this Saturday’s race at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Dirt Track. Jones has led the standings since February, his lead extending at one time to 177 points.
Saturday’s race at Las Vegas is the first for the series at the 1/2-mile dirt oval and the first for USAC Sprints there since Tony Elliott won a National race in 1998.
The competitiveness of this year’s Lucas Oil USAC/CRA series is evident in the fact that only one of the “top-10” drivers in the current standings has failed to win a feature in 2007. Rickie Gaunt has three seconds and three thirds and has posted the fastest qualifying time seven times!
Expected to challenge the USAC/CRA regulars are many of the top National stars, since Saturday’s Las Vegas race will be closely followed by the Nov. 1-3 “Budweiser Oval Nationals” at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway and the Nov. 9-10 Checker Auto Parts/Budweiser/Parker Store “Western World Championships” at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz.
LUCAS OIL USAC/CRA SPRINT CAR SERIES STANDINGS 1. Tony Jones 1,729 2. Mike Spencer 1,676 3. Danny Sheridan 1,561 4. Rickie Gaunt 1,511 5. Scotty Weir 1,381 6. Rip Williams 1,311 7. David Cardey 1,141 8. Cory Kruseman 1,084 9. Blake Miller 1,001 10. R.J. Johnson 914

RODRIGUEZ SEEKS “LOCK” FOR 2007 WESTERN MIDGET TITLE IN SATURDAY’S RACE AT THE LVMS DIRT TRACK
OCTOBER 22, 2007 --- Saturday’s USAC “doubleheader” at the Las Vegas (Nev.) Motor Speedway Dirt Track features the USAC Western Midgets and the Lucas Oil USAC/CRA Sprint Cars and Johnny Rodriguez hopes to put a lock on the 2007 Western Midget title with a strong showing.
Rodriguez, of Elk Grove, Calif., needs 37 points to dispatch runner-up Scott Pierovich of Alamo, Calif. as the challenger. A total of 140 points are available in races Saturday and Nov. 22 at Irwindale, Calif. and Rodriguez’ lead stands at 104 entering the Las Vegas program. A title would be Rodriguez second, having previously won the 2005 crown, while Pierovich is seeking his first championship.
Rick Hendrix won the last USAC Midget race on the Las Vegas dirt, in 1998. Although he’s not currently in the “top-10” in series standings, he has competed this season, posting a pair of “top-10” finishes at Ventura, Calif.
Lady drivers Shannon McQueen and Randi Pankratz are both in the “top-10”. McQueen won a race at Madera, Calif. earlier this year while Pankratz finished second to Rodriguez at Quincy, Calif. in June.
Four-time Western Midget Champion Robby Flock also bears watching as he strives for a 53rd career feature win. He already has second-place finishes on the dirt at Ventura and Santa Maria, Calif. this year.
USAC WESTERN MIDGET CAR SERIES STANDINGS 1 Johnny Rodriguez 884 2 Scott Pierovich 780 3 Matt Mitchell 662 4 Shannon McQueen 559 5 Chris Rahe 465 6 Robby Flock 449 7 C.J. Sarna 429 8 Quintin Crye 378 9 Randi Pankratz 368 10 Jerome Rodela 344
