Arlington, MN (September 29, 2007)The rain didn’t keep the competitors away for the annual auto extravaganza at the Arlington Raceway on September 29 th as there was over 300 participantsthat registered to compete during the day. Fans were treated to some great racing action in all divisions. Points were still on for the Liberty Station Hobby A drivers and the Yellow Book Hobby B drivers. In the Hobby B class, Joe Maas from Howard Lake won the race with Matt Schauer of Glencoe winning the top point title. In the Liberty Station Hobby A feature Chris Isaacson won his first track championship and the feature event for the day. Darrell Torgerson from Mankato pulled off another win in the Wissota Blue Sky Creamery Midwest Modified division. Shaun Bruns from Olivia worked his way through the field to win the Annhilator IMCA Stock Car feature with Dan Mackenthun of Hamburg picking up the track championship. Curt Lund from Redwood Falls got ahead of Bruce Allen in the U.S. Army IMCA Sprint feature and took a convincing lead to win. Jesse Smith of Mankato won the track championship. In the 93 KXLP IMCA Modified division, Tim Wertish from Redwood Falls made a smooth pass on Jason Helmbrecht of Howard Lake to win the feature and Darrell Torgerson of Mankato is a double track champion winning this division as well. The 25 lap figure 8 race was a ruthless battle between 14 drivers that began the event. John Polifka of Glencoe was the winner ahead of Dave Nogle of Hastings. Julie Scharping of Arlington won the Powder Puff 25 lap womens race driving a smooth race ahead of Michelle Uecker of Hutchinson. The men’s enduro was won by John Polifka of Glencoe. The compact 25 lap race was won by Jim Wickland of Winthrop who finished just ahead of Joe Maas from Howard Lake. The end of the day demo derby was won by Glenoce’s Jason Wills.

Now if we could get them to put the points for Arlington/Redwood, it would be another successful year of information.

I forgot to add that Mike Sargent won the first annual puking contest at 10:45 at night in the 00 pit scored by Dan Grams.

Was sure havin fun...right up until...well anyway, looks like it was only worth two points according to Grams. I think I got robbed for as bad as I felt the next day. Thanks Brett for lettin my son Dustin run yer car in the machanics race, he had a blast, pretty proud of his trophy! Also Thanks to LeRoy for haulin my sorry ass home that night. Had to go back to Arlington the next day to get my vehicle...it was a long ride up and back. I still owe Nate Ediger a very tall bottle of some sort of Apple Schnapps...some wierd name on the bottle but it sure did taste good...going down anyway. (PS...I'll never drink again!) At least till the hurtin goes away.
