Somewhat lost in the legends that are still winning discussion.

Winning for 43 years! You can count the guys who have done that on one hand,

I agree 100%! The guy is a legend! Not the best equipment, does it all himself with a small budget and still gets the job done, and wins occasionally. He races cause he LOVES it! Couldnt ask for a better guy!

Danny was on top of the world with the gambler house car ride. It could not have happened to a nicer guy. Then the big one. It changed his driving style but he has stuck it out and been there. Always enjoyed watching him.

Proud of Danny for still winning. He was Atomic Speedway's (Formerly KC Raceway) track champion last year for the sprints. At 59 years old at that time that's just amazing.

I think there was a race earlier the year when he broke something in his 410, swapped in an older steel block 360 and still finished Top 15 maybe (can't remember exactly where he finished). Danny's a legend on the track and a beauty (to steal a hockey term) off. Badass guy.

I've never heard anyone say a bad word about the guy. In fact I'd go so far as to say that if you don't like Danny Smith, I probably don't like you. He's one of the nicest sprint car drivers I've ever met and his sense of humor is off the charts. To me, he embodies everything that grass roots dirt track racing is all about. Pretty cool that he's still winning and running up front especially when you factor his budget into the equation. 43 straight years of winning is an incredible accomplishment. Just think of all the drivers and teams that have come and gone since he first started racing & here he is still getting it done on a shoe string budget. Way to go Danny!

Danny has many fans Down Under.  He has probably made more trips here than any other US driver.  Danny had won The Classic at Warrnambool six times (83/85/87/88/89/96).  He also finished second three times (84/91/2001).  Danny made his final appearance at The Classic in 2016.  I got to witness Danny winning a World Series race at Parramatta a few years ago. We hope he will come back to Australia and visit when it gets too cold in Ohio !

Dad and I went to the Indy qualifying several years ago, had to park several blocks away.  Got out of the truck and saw it was Danny Smith parked next to us.  We talked all the way to the track.  He was super cool, great to talk to - was a fan before and certainly ever since.  Congrats to him!

Not only did he win on Saturday but he ran well Friday at Attica with a 7th place finish against a pretty strong field.

I remember when he beat the Outlaws at Lawrenceburg about a decade ago, the crowd went wild, myself included, hell I had a tear in my eye.  I remember him saying after the race, what's the big deal I used to be the track champ here (about 30 years ago and without a wing, lol).  A great dry sense of humor to say the least...

PS  I also saw his last win in '96 at The Classic in Australia, what a great night that was as the place went crazy, he was driving for the Harrower family, some of the best people in the country....

Thx IN2RACIN. He had a couple guys behind him that were really hustling. I bet that caution really helped a 60 year old guy catch his breath and get back up on the wheel. So cool, 43 years in a row.

Steve and Sammy have both won Features in five decades, but not sure what the span in years was for either of them.

Last time I saw Danny was probably 10 years ago or more back by the camping  area behind turns 3/4 at Eldora. Sweating his ass off working on his car all by himself getting ready for The Night before the Kings Royal, Made a little chit chat with him, Nice guy.

Keith Kauffman also won in 5 decades. Winning races after he turned 60 also.
