PETERSEN MEDIA: Mother Nature has not been kind to the Knoxville Raceway in 2017 so far, but after rain picked off two of the first three nights of action, all systems point to go for tonight’s event and TheCushion.Com will be LIVE with flag to flag coverage.
“It has just been one of those years around the country,” T2 Digital’s Ian Marvuglio said about the rain. “We know we need it, but the racer in us hopes it’s done until the winter and we can get back to racing weekly at the ‘Sprint Car Capital of the World.”
After winning an exciting opening night battle over Kerry Madsen two weeks ago, Brian Brown enters Saturday night as the early Knoxville Cup point leader. Brown will lead another strong contingent of 410ci drivers into battle on Saturday night that will include the likes of Kerry and Ian Madsen, Danny Lasoski, Austin and Terry McCarl, Lynton Jeffrey amongst others.
Ian Madsen took top honors during the opening 360ci race has he fended off Seth Bergman and Clint Garner to do so. While Madsen is focusing on the 410 points battle in 2017, Garner finds himself atop the early point standings after one night of action. The Knoxville favorite will be back in action on Saturday night along with Jamie Ball, Matt Moro, Calvin Landis, Joe Beaver, Devin Kline, McKenna Haase, and many others.
The 305ci division will also be on hand to complete the three-headed sprint car monster that has become the norm at the Marion County Fairgrounds. Drivers like Kevin Hetrick, Kade Higday, Joe Simbro will lead an extremely talented field of rookie drivers to the famed ½ mile in what is becoming an exciting weekly class.
