I enjoyed your new story in "Tidbits from the past" section. There are few writers I follow word for word and you are in that category.

Brian, I agree 100% as I love reading Galen's stuff. Hopefully he will post even more since racing season is over to give us all something to read from tidbits from the past.

I also love reading your stuff on Racing From the Past message board and hope that you will consider posting your stories on my page too.

Maybe, eventually Mike Spivey, Tom McAlister, David Lambert and others will start to post their stories for us all to read during the racing off season.

Thanks for the compliments, folks. I just enjoy putting the information out where people can find it, and if they learn anything at all from it (like for instance there are no NEW problems, just the same old ones with different faces and part numbers) all the better. This winter I'll be dropping in SFS and Taft history pieces fairly often, since I'm not helping put a midget together for the Chili Bowl. First up, I guess I'll finish the story of the first race on the quarter mile in October, 1954. Sometime this week.....

Something everyone needs to think about is preserving history....personal, family, professional, whatever. There's so many things, for instance, I'd like to ask my father about stories I half heard and forgot....so, take a tape recorder, sit down, and talk to parents, grandparents, your personal hero, whatever, and get it on tape so it doesn't go away with them. End of commercial.

Amen Brother!!!! When I got divorced 11 years ago, one of the 1st things I did was take my daughters out to my parents house and let them spend hours and hours with my parents. I encouraged them to ask questions about what it was like when they were growing up and about when my brothers and I were growing up. To this day, both my girls still talk about the time they spent learning about the "good ole days!" As they got older, they also were allowed to sit in on lots of get togethers with my brothers and other close friends. Embrace the past, if it's racing or family, stories from the past are worth more than there weight in gold.

And Galen, I too also enjoy talking to you and reading your stories, and you, my friend are a big part of the racing past!!!!!!!!!
