NOT A WORD SO FAR ON THE PAY OUT FOR THE JOHNNY KEY........Anyone know what it is going to be? The fact that at 25 laps there will be a break to CHANGE TIRES, refuel and anything else in the short time that needs to be done can be I hope there will be at least enough to cover the cost of 4 tires minimum for the night. You know all the big budget teams will put on new rubber after 25 laps!

50 laps for $2500 to win? In a 360? $100 if you miss the transfer to the A?

Well at least the big budget team will make enough to offset part of their expenses; but the fact remains that the only way to make a small fortune in racing is to start out with a big one!

In the 80's, the Key payed around 10 grand to win. Huge crowds, great racing and a lot more sponsors... not anymore. bummer!!

Yup, kinda sucks that the San Jose promoter didn't care and ran it in to the ground.

Great to see the folks at Watsonville bringing it back and trying to build something there.

Um, go ahead an bitch, well maybe not, you put what into the purse? 2500 plus lap money plus lap cash. Its the first time out for Prentice. He's trying to re-grow legs on a legendary race and a hell of a crown to have in the trophy case.

Instead of being a friggin whinner, be a particpant, a spectator or better yet put your money where your keyboard is. Contribute to the lap money.

(not directed at you Mike, you do more than enough on an individual level, much less at the group level)

the only time the key paid realy big money was when cliff morin of summit air compressors helped sponsor it and rich voss won 10 grand. someone correct me if i am wrong but the rest of the time at the fairgrounds it payed 3-5 grand to win a key race.

how much do you think rick wright has spent to get his 6 outlaw a main trophies? some times it is not ALL about money.

yes it is a bummer that racing times have changed in this area. but these guys are trying to give the sprint fans and racers something to be hopefull about. sprint racing died around here. you are not going to bring it back to life with 10 races on the other side of the hill. but it is a start, and with the support of the fans that really enjoy the sport maybe other fans will revisit the sport and bring in new fans as well.

i hope the folks who come out for the key know that everyone connected with both our teams(31 & 35) appreciate your support and are ready to race hard.

while I kinda wish you guys were bringing Haud for Fri night, I understand its the National. Best of luck at the Key and the Grove.

And youre right, its easy to spend it when you have it and better yet when you can look at the hardware on the shelf and go, yeah it was worth it and it puts a grin on your face...you know when where and who and ya never forget.

hey i never said rick thinks all that money for those trophies was worth it. lol. i just said sometimes it's not ALL about the money. if you think those outlaw trophies are worth about a million bucks each i'm sure he would sell you a couple.
